The Yevetha were the first really brutal enemies on par with the Vong as far as how cruelly they are portrayed. There is some interesting political and moral scenarios for Leia, they introduce a good new character in Etahn A'bhett, and Landos side story though it distracts from what's going on in the central plot is enjoyable by itself.
I would even suggest skipping all the Lando chapters as well when you first read the trilogy, then reading them separately later on. The BFC really is about three entirely separate stories, so reading them in a more cohesive way may provide better reading experience.
The BFC also has the best Ackbar we've ever had and that's quite something considering that Stackpole also wrote his character very well in some of the X-Wing novels. Between Ackbar and A'baht it really has better fleet commander action than even Gar Stazi or Thrawn had in their respective novels/comics.
