Yes, they're just regular folders.

I feel like we should be able to delete the zip folder now, as we've got the Imperial Civil War folder.  Aren't we able to copy/paste the Imperial Civil War folder into the mods folder?

If by compressed folder, you mean the .zip, then that's not a folder, that's the archive. You need to extract it. You can't just put whatever you download directly into the mods folder and run it, you need to run it if it's the installer or extract it if it's the zip. That's just how the files are stored to make them downloadable, since you can't just upload/download a folder directly.

Unfortunately, after redownload if the .zip, we have encountered another problem.  We currently have the Imperial Civil War folder, but it is not directly in the Mods folder.

After the .zip download had completed, we had an ICW folder now directly in the Mods folder.  After extracting it to the mods folder, it put the Imperial Civil War folder and manual in a decompressed folder on the same screen as the compressed folder.  Only after double-clicking that do we reach the proper folder and manual.

Why do we have these extra folders separating the Imperial Civil War folder from the Mods folder.  It's the compressed folder in the middle of the two causing the game to remain unplayable.

If you're going to post pictures on the forums (or anywhere on the internet) you need to upload them somewhere ie www.imageshack.us , can't just post the filename.

It sounds like you're trying to open the exe or something instead of just running it. Exe is a standard executable, so the computer should know how to run the installer if you just double click it and don't have super restricted security settings.

Thanks!

The problem was mostly that there was never an Imperial Civil War FOLDER, then.  Let me see if I can get some pictures of what it looked like with the Installer.  In addition, it never asked us to set a directory or anything, and after the download finished, it would bring up a menu with Internet Explorer, windows media player, etc.

Well, there's never going to be an exe except the installer itself. If there's no .exe for the installer it would mean you didn't actually download anything. This method also directs you to install the mod to the Corruption folder and adds the mod folder itself, so if you run it directed to the Mods folder it;ll end up in Mods\Mods\Imperial_Civil_War. If nothing's downloading, or if nothing's running when you double click the exe it's possible that security settings are preventing you from downloading it.

For the .zip version there shouldn't be any exe at all. There's no exe necessary to run anything mod-wise, and the .zip contains all the mod's files. You just extract it into the mods folder (which you'd have to create), and then change Steam's launch settings.

If the modpath thing isn't working, the first thing to do is check the file structure. It should end up looking like this:
...corruption\Mods\Imperial_Civil_War\Data\etc.
Make sure it's not
...corruption\Mods\Imperial_Civil_War\Imperial_Civil_War\Data\etc

Hope this helps.

Hello guys!  I was recently helped in the download of my own copy of the mod, and I've been trying to figure it out for a friend.  He has a Windows 7 computer, same as mine.

First, we did what I did to get my copy of the mod, which was downloading the Installer.  However, after the download finished, it wouldn't ask us where to send the file.  So, we made a "mods" folder manually in the corruption folder and directed the download to that location.  Despite this, after doing the MODPATH thing for Steam, it wouldn't work.   There was no Imperial Civil War folder, either.

Afterwards, we tried to download the .zip and extract it that way.  After the download, it was extracted, but there was no .exe file.  I should have mentioned that there was no .exe file in the first download either.

So, after all of this, I have talked so highly of the mod, but he is losing faith fast in this download process.  We've followed every set of directions, and there is either a missing Imperial Civil War folder, .exe file, or we are not asked where to download the file to.

I can hopefully convince them to give it one more go, but I am willing to bet he will give up after our next attempt.

Thank you very much!
