This takes me back to my own military call-up day, that also happened to be my 18th birthday. It was really just 200 guys cramped in a tiny auditorium watching these uber-cool military recruitment videos that showcased all the cool stuff you could do during your military service. Plenty of people there were really excited and wanted to apply for all the toughest and coolest possible assignments, while others swore they would just apply to artillery or support corps to avoid any sort of physical exertion. At the time I wasn't all that enthusiastic about doing mili, but did neither want to be one of those lazy slobs in the artillery, so I never applied for anything, hoping to catch a semi-challenging, thoroughly uninteresting post in the anti-air or something similar. First day in service? Armored infantry it is.
