And having mentioned that, I am now working on making a map like that for Sins via galaxy forge

Interesting

That would be interesting, make a GC with a bunch of planets for each faction, and only one point where you can reach the others, so to win, you have to invade another's branch, without loosing the center.

Would love to see a TIE fighter like gc. Zaarin vs Thrawn

There's already a full top-down map in the manual, it's on page 114. It also includes the shipyard level each planet can support.

An alternate idea: divide the galaxy based on the rings. i.e.: have all planets beyond the outer ring. Also, something I would like to see in the manual is a top-down view of the complete galaxy, please.

Agreed with everyone esle.  Would be awesome to see it, but I don't know if most of my machines could handle it, even without the unit selection issues that Corey brings up.

Well we kinda have that with the era gcs

A more viable option could be smaller campaigns that have every planet from a certain part of the galaxy, like an Outer Rim GC or a major hyperlane GC.

Would be amazing, but yeah performance would implode and the map would be pretty crowded.

Hyperspace routes would be interesting, especially if it was the major hyperspace lanes making up the core of the campaign.

Yeah, there's a few considerations here, several of which have already been mentioned. These are my main ones:

1. Performance/freeze issue: Going up to ~150 planets can easily turn into a lag fest, and even if we have the de-freezer, it's best not to push our luck. In the past, the freeze issue has tended to only happen when you've got a few planets left. Here, even if it happened after you managed to grab all of the Art of War planets, you'd pretty much still have the entire Thrawn Campaign to capture.

2.  Planet positioning: Several planets would start getting really crowded, if not directly on top of each other. It would become really difficult to move or select anything.

This is something I'd like to see in theory, but planning hyperspace routes for such a campaign would be considerably difficult in addition to potentally major performance issues.

Actually, the old Art of War didn't have all of the planets either. It had more, but by no means all.  I think ICW currently has a total of about 150-160 planets coded in.
