Have you used the save defreezer utility we put out?

Problem popped up again. Here are the fine details:

Week 113
475/1456 Unit Capacity
Era 1
Problem happened during a very large space invasion by the Empire of the Hand against my Galactic Empire world of Pantolomin. An Executor-class SSD was present. When the EotH units began jumping in reserves, they no longer showed any targeting details for guns, engines, shield generators, etc. They could not be targeted by ground-to-space weaponry. Every battle after that one developed the same problem, only it got worse as now even my own units were affected and could not even be selected.

Hey Pox,

I was able to find my login info. Never uploaded a game file before, would be able to tell me what to do to be able to upload the game file, or where to find it. I tried to follow the same path that the Defreezer has but all I see are slot1 sav, slot 2 sav, etc, and am not sure that is what you need.

Congrats on getting your account back. I have reattributed your guest posts to your account so you get the post-count benefits. ~Slornie

Hello again,

So I decided to start a new game playing the Imperial Remnant, currently with Palpatine as the leader. In a space battle where I have a Sovereign, SSD, two Praetor's II, and several other support ships, I was able to start the game just fine but as soon as the enemy reinforcements started to warp in the ability to select my new ships as well as indicating what ship to target began to fail. Note I created a different save file to test the defreeze on it, for example Thrawn/ Emp Med 2.

I defreezed the alternate file Thrawn/ Emp Med 2 after if froze, but it crashes as soon as it loads the game. Does it mater if I save the game in mid battle? other wise I would have to let the battle run it's course(lose or win) and then try to defreeze it. To answer the question, I bought the games separately, Star Wars Empire At War, and later Star Wars Empire At War Forces of Corruption.

Yes,  and once the freeze hits again could you upload the save game somewhere, so I can have a look at it?
Also which version of the game are you using? Retail, Gold retail or steam?

That particular one I did not. I have a previous save, I try to do multiple in for each game. How would I do the back up once it freezes? I am playing another one and would like to know just in case it happens again.

Just copy the save to the same directory and it'll create save(1) so that you have your savegame save and a copy save(1).

Did you back up your save game before defreezing?

Thanks for all your hard work guys! I did download the patch to defreeze the game and I was able select my ships after that, however, every time I try to load that particular save it crashes after 10 seconds. Does this issue occur regardless of what faction you are playing with? I do not recall having this issue with Empire of the Hand or Imperial Remnant.

Either way guys, once again thank you all, not only for creating this mod, but also for all your efforts guys. Best mod I've played.

I have recently came across a similar problem. After building up a fleet of considerable size, every time the AI attacks with Empire of the Hand, or Imperial Remanent, I am unable to select any of my ships as I start the battle, so I have to let it run its course. I have the same issue when I attack, I usually send one ship first, then I warp in whatever ship I want later, but now most of my ships just warp in and am unable to select any. I tried letting the error fix or correct itself, but nothing happened. At this point do I just start from the begging? I am at a loss. I haven't been able to beet the game ever.  :'(

If you're using the latest patch of the mod it includes the defreezer now.  Just make a note of your save game, run the defreezer, and select your savegame and defreeze.  Upon reloading you'll again be able to control units.

There is a file included that tells you how to use the defreezer, and where to look for your savegame files.
