Exactly.  The reason most of the EU books I can't read.  The plot bunnies are intolerable.

Yeah, pretty much. SSD's are always just as strong or weak as the plot requires them to be. Probably true for regular ISD's too, they seem to fluctuate a lot in power depending on who's writing.

Lets be honest and just call it what it is, inconsisten plot bunnies needing for the Empire to lose regardless, and the Rebels to always win against incredible odds.

well as i remember iron fist had to retreat because by the time it could bring its guns to bear it would have lost shields leaving it vulnerable a risk zinj was willing to take not becuse it couldn't winafter all the prior most cause of SSD .lose is a lucky hit on the bridge one it shields are down

Durability of SSDs is a consistently inconsistent feature in the Star Wars universe.  I seem to recall Lusankya demonstrated a considerable lack of durability when Wedge/Rogue Squadron captured it from Isard in the first place!  On the other hand, Mon Remonda was also surprisingly durable when up against Iron Fist..

That...has bugged me a lot now that you mention it...Iron Fist alone should have been a match for Solo's fleet but with 3 vessels against it it's forced to retreat? The Lusankya situation was a bit more understandable as Wedge designed tactics specifically to hurt an SSD(Snubs and insane amounts of Proton Torps)

And once again it was Rogues who saved the day. And Lusankya seems quite durable considering it was being attacked by two SSDs. Executor, Iron Fist and Knight Hammer were all defeated by a small number of Rebels.

Yes, and the Empire would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for those Pesky Rogues and their Wedge Too!!!

This wasn't entirely his fault, it could be blamed more on faulty NR Intelligence that stated the Reaper was the last SSD left. Still, the fact that he managed to retreat with the Lusankya stands for something, especially given the 6 Interdictors the Remnant had.

Agreed, though Pellaeon did a great job of luring him into that situation. Also while I harp on Ackbar I will give him some credit,  his battle with Krennal above Ciutric IV was actually very well run.

I always found Wedge a brilliant commander. That's why i choose him.

I chose him for his adaptability and creativity. He practically revolutionized small unit tactics, snubfighter techniques and then applied those to capital ships successfully.
