Have contingency plans ready.  No matter how well you think you've laid out a logical course of action your players would take, at some point they WILL decide to go off on a random tangent and do something completely unexpected for a very stupid reason.

Hello all. Once again I am searching for advice. In particular I am looking for help from current/former RPG gamers. I am going to be the GM for a scratch-built campaign I am writing (its for the currently campaign-less tabletop X-Wing). I am looking for advice/tips/suggestions anyone might be able to give so that I can be as good a GM as possible. Thanks!
