You make a good point.

Honestly, even then it's a skillset that would be put to much better use making actual gameplay-related stuff. For example, I think people would much prefer an animated AT-TE.

If I remember correctly, even FoC didn't include those videos. CGI animations like that are a bit outside of our skillsets.

Assuming I could use my resources to find someone who does specialize in said CG?

That's true if you leave them in their little corner for two long and you will be in trouble.

They are very weak to start with, hit Niraun fast to kill off their heroes then just go down the line and wipe them out. They can easily be dealt with early in the game by the PA and IR. The longer you wait the tougher they get though.

The EoTH is good but it make's me angry because they attack me with a super fleet of around 20 phalanz destroyer and lot more and they are very hard to defeat. Wich in other words mean I should use'em a lot more but they don't have the big ships I like.

The EotH is one of the BEST factions to play as, they are versatile, unique and many of their units were created almost from scratch(making them the MOST creative faction in my opinion)

then what will be your plans for future mods apart for assendecy which i just bought my sins of a solar empire for ? and will you be doing a little more for the eoth because honestly its a joke so far how it is (no offence) but what it has it very little in the way of others even the penstar i would rate eoth as the worst group to use so just asking will you be beefing it up a bit before bye byes and whats next

You really have a way with words.

The Eoth is a joke? Lol so (I'm guessing) 1-2 years of development just on the eoth alone is a joke? That is just really disrispectful to the team.

How is the Empire of the Hand the worst? Their gameplay is no less satisfying than any of the other factions, they're not in any way weak, and aside from the Visvia, which was delayed for reasons I've explained many times, they're not lacking in any role.

If you're just coming from an "oh well it has the least units" angle, That's irrelevant. Some people like having factions packed with units, but that often results in redundant roles and the novelty wears off almost immediately; you're not creating good gameplay. That's part of why the era system is the why it is. We're able to represent the canon ships that fill similar roles without oversaturating any role at one point. The Empire of the Hand lacks the same diversity just in sheer numbers at first glance as a result, but if you actually take the time to look at the individual eras which the IR and NR are divided between, there's very little difference.

Take an even close look at what those numbers include and the EotH isn't really missing out on much. The Empire of the Hand constantly has the Au'riette quite adequately filling the role of the light carrier for the faction. For the Empire in any given era that role can be split between any combination of the Escort Carrier, Venator and Acclamator. Another example is the ISDI and ISDII, which are always there but have little discernible difference in performance, save that the ISDII is effectively better in every way. Do we actually gain anything from putting in an Ascendancy II with the same sort of differences as the ISDII and ISDI have between them?

This comes down to the difference between how each faction works. The basic premise of the era system is to allow for us to have a narrative-driven tech system which in turn allowed us to represent more of the iconic ships than we would have otherwise, whereas with the Empire of the Hand we've been free to design ships and put them exactly where we want them, and the results turn out better and somewhat more cohesive than trying to shoehorn existing canon designs into a complete faction, in my opinion. Put us on a standard tech progression and the EotH probably ends up with more ships than anyone else. There's still one or two more frigates that I want to give them, and maybe the new capital ship they're getting in Ascendancy depending on how well it translates, but I'd hardly say that lacking those one or two frigates to fill it out makes it a joke.

The basic question is this: At what point are we not adding ships because they add to gameplay, but just for the sake of adding ships?

There aren't any plans for future mods apart from Ascendancy. Working on two mods at the same time would be impossible.

"As for "3.0", there won't be a 3.0. We're doing 2.1" (a couple of posts above yours)

There will be no releases for ICW beyond 2.1 (aka no 3.0)

Again, 3D animation like that isn't something we can do. It's a specific skillset that we don't have, and it's an extremely involved process. It's not because we don't know what's involved, it's because we don't have the time, resources or skillset to do it, in the same way that I know the basic mechanics of hockey, know how to hit a puck, etc but that doesn't mean I'm able to compete with Crosby.

As for "3.0", there won't be a 3.0. We're doing 2.1, and have no plans past that. The main goal with that is to round out a few things, add any improved content made for Ascendancy into ICW, and that kind of stuff. As far as any major additions, there's a new feature related to the era mechanic I'm going to be working on, and a Survival gameplay mode that Pox has done, both of which will be explained later, but that's the meat of it. ICW is a mod. We as a team don't have access to the same resources as an actual game dev company, we're significantly smaller, and don't have access to every facet of the game. The vast majority of the game is hardcoded, and we have to work within those (often very restricting) limitations.

As far as it goes, I assume the team are unable to make animations due to the lack of skill, which means unless someone pops by and says that they are capable of 3d animation and want to help, there will be no victory video
