In this day and age, I can't say I miss boxed releases that much, particularity not when the original developer is getting a greater share of the profits, as they should.

« on: December 11, 2012, 10:32:10 PM »Digital is all simple, no need to even redownload. It's all saved to a backup drive. I don't even need to find a DVD, find a DVD key, wait for the thing to copy. Plus digital saves material - no need for paper manuals, plastic DVDs, and cardboard boxes.

Just because companies are too cheap to spend the $.05 on pressing DVD's shouldn't be my problem.That's entirely not the reason behind a digital only release. With digital sales, the publisher/game maker gets a MUCH larger share of the profits on each game sale than with retail. There's a nice thread on the Sins forums, by an SD guy, explaining all this.

I've never gotten any spam from Steam (though I don't sign up for any newsletters, deals, etc).
Password is only issue, but it's hard to get away from every service that has their own login system these days. Every website, every social network, go figure.

As far as Steam, it's not Steam itself I have issue with. It's the fact that it's yet another password, yet MORE spam mail, and I want a physical copy, I don't want to have to sign into something every 6 months to redownload 4 Gigs of data because I reinstall my computers more often than some people I know change their underwear.
