Apparently the Katana Dreadnaughts are coded with a lifetime limit of 25, not 15.

Are you sure the limit is 20? I play Art of War a lot and kill Isard to get the katanas from Thrawn's era. I have about 28 right now, that's when my icon for them goes away.

Well, they would still have to spawn somewhere, and if they lack planets that means they start on someone else's, and waste a faction slot. The old idea was to make an Empty Space planet and make it so that whoever won a battle there got the ships, but even if we did make it so that to get them you had to fulfill some requirements, it'd always be limited.

Oh they have the ion cannons PLUS the regular lason cannons? Aww man that just makes me want more of them...even more...Dangit.

In terms of making it more in line with the Thrawn trilogy, could you make it such that whichever faction kills/finds Ferrier or Karrde first (making them their own minor AI faction, without planets), only they would have access to the Katana fleet?

Do Crimson Command Vics have a build limit?

The Katana Dreadnaught weren't a regular ship of the line, is what I mean. They were from a specific fleet, and never made that way again. That's why. Trying to locate and capture them was a large plot point in the Thrawn Trilogy. The reason for the text thing is because they were doubled up, (two hardpoints on one bone) as it would have been too crowded to add more. The Katanas have all of the default weaponry of the Dreadnaught, plus those ion cannons.

I understand the canonical reasons to limit them, but 15 just seems like such a low number. And yes they were built by the old republic, but then why bother allowing us to build dreadnaughts at all?

The ion cannons are just so much  more useful than the laser cannons on the vanilla version. By the way, while they fire ion beams and behave like ion cannon batteries, the hardpoints on the Katanna dreadnaughts still read "Lasor Cannon Battery". Is that some sort of model issue? Just curious, it doesn't really bother me.

Well ideally we'd make it so whichever side was able to capture them ingame first is the ones who get to build all of them, since this is something where canon events shouldn't really influence how it goes ingame. Since that can't be done in a satisfactory way, we let each build 15, representing all 200.

just wondering that shouldn't the Empire be able to build more katana dreadnaughts than New Republic since they captured more of them? 178 out of 200 if I remember right.

I think you'll find the Katana fleet was built by the Old Republic ;)

The Katana Dreadnaughst only existed as a special "historical" fleet made by the New Republic, which got lost and abandoned. Karrde found it, and the information became available to whichever IR hero can build them as well. There were only 200 Dreadnaughts in the fleet overall, which is why we decided 15 per side would be a good limit.

Hey guys:

Is there a reason why there seems to be a limit on the number of Katana Dreadnaughts I can build? This seems to occur with both the NR and the IR. After building 15 or so, the icon simply disappears...
