For the Galaxy Gun, I made projectiles that required the orbiting gun and can destroy planets.  The Gun just has lasers.

You all realise this topic is in the FoC discussion forum? If you want to discuss superweapons in the mod, move it to the proper forum....

I am still adamant about the Galaxy Gun having more chances than the World Devestator.

There aren't ever any engine edits made, and if you DID make them somehow, you would not need to edit the LUA files to make them take effect.

(Also, the best programmer in the community is almost undoubtedly Mike.NL. He made the majority of the tools that most mods use on a daily basis.)

In any case, topic.

i was saying with engine edits, changes need to be made in LUAs to make it work properly.

1. LUA is NOT the engine coding, the Alamo engine is done in C/C++ IIRC.

2. Modding can include programming, it does for many games... Coding = Programming. However, EaW and FoC let us edit the XML and LUA files, which is just scripting.

3. Config.meg just has the XMl and some LUA stuff in it (as well as some stuff that few mods edit, more on that never), its what you extract to get those files...

4. The reason people don't mod EaW's engine coding is not JUST because most don't know how to go about it, its also because if they released a mod with the engine coding, they'd get sued.

no. engines are generally supported by any computer as long as the game is OS-compatible. to make a OS-incomatible game compatible with n OS, it requires all sorts of emulation and things. you theoretically can mod an engine, but it is such a big job. is engine info in config files?
for EAW, it would also require deciphering of the LUA, much of which is hardcoded (cannot be edited) and so complicated few in the community can read it. of what i've seen, Sidious invader is the best coder this community has, but he also has problems with a lot of the LUA. to quote kalo, LUA is a "wallotext" and most of it in undecipherable.

yea i thought so. most computers don't even have the capability to edit the engine correct?

engine editing is more to do with programming than modding, to be honest.

if you had a world devastator and wanted to make it canon, it could involve editing the game engine wich i don't think eaw allows

As do I. The WD might be a bit too big for land....I only meant it for space.
