Single Planet Start
« on: May 10, 2020, 11:02:58 AM »
Hi,

Just discovered Thrawn's revenge a few days ago and right now I am completely overwhelmed by the content. As a big Star Wars fan of the real Star Wars and not this new disney crap, I am really admiring the work here that included all the great extended universe storys.

After playing "The Stars Align" as a starter I now wanted to get into something bigger. So I decided to to a single planet start, as an era-progressive GC still seemed to big for me (rather start with one planet and evolve from there than to have many planets where I loose my sight really quickly).
In the description it says that everything gets randomized. But I started it two times and both times I (Empire) started on Carida While the New Republic, The Empire of the Hand and the Hapes Consortium always had the same (multiple) planets. There were no additional factions besides that.

- Is it intentional that there are "only" these 4 factions + Independent?
- How am I supposed to progress through eras? I thought in Thrawn's revenge this happens when the Era-specific hero gets killed, but I started without a hero.
- What is meant by "The starts are randomly"? The two games I started looked completely equal.

Hi and welcome.

I'll try and answer your questions to the best of my ability.

>Is it intentional that there are "only" these 4 factions + Independent?
I believe so. Sorry I don't really know the reason.

>How am I supposed to progress through eras? I thought in Thrawn's revenge this happens when the Era-specific hero gets killed, but I started without a hero.
Era-progression is only in three or four GC scenarios found at the top of the scenario selection page. You might have noticed there was no era-progression in "The Stars Align". All factions are at their own most powerful era. Heroes are disabled in "single start planet".

>What is meant by "The starts are randomly"? The two games I started looked completely equal.
The maps are the same, you and faction are all same. The "pirates" are different in strength and type. Were you playing as Imperials for both games?

Thanks for your answer

No problem, even 4 factions is massive compared to vanilla EaW. Would've been really cool to have a massive "all factions" GC there with a single planet start.

Yes I recognized that on "The Stars Align". Thought it was special for those scenario campaigns as they tend to display only a small part of the whole story.

Yes, was starting as the Imperials both times.
