Executor or Sovereign?
« on: August 16, 2016, 05:56:38 AM »
So, I've recently got back into Sins and remember having this mod a while back. Naturally wanting to crush everything that stands against me, I'd play as the IR. I've already built the Executor in my campaign, but I feel like my decision was too hasty. If I remember correctly, the Executor has more firepower than the Sovereign, am I wrong? So, what actually separates the two ships?

Sovereign has a super laser that can does a massive amount of damage to enemy ships it also has a gravity well to prevent enemy ships from hyperspacing away.

Like Mat said, Sovereign has the superlaser and gravity well projectors, but the downside is that they are SIGNIFICANTLY weaker hull/shields, and a fair percentage lesser weapons.  Overall, I much prefer the Sovereign due to the superlaser (it's so slow the gravity wells are basically useless), and it looking so much cooler than the Exector IMO.

Another thing to keep in mind is that in order to get the most out of the Sovereign you need to micromanage it. The Executor pretty much takes care of itself. Also, if you're getting WDs and properly managing them firepower isn't a huge problem, so I tend to go Sovereign in most cases.

If the opponent's power is concentrated in high-level titans and capital ships, the Sovereign with it's superlaser is definitely the way to go.  Early game though the Executor is far better because it can annihilate entire fleets of weaker ships.
