Interregnum
« on: August 04, 2016, 04:08:06 PM »
So I've been playing a few other mods recently (Interegnum, Armada III, Sins of a Galactic Empire, Sacrifice of Angels 2), and wanted to see if anyone else plays Interregnum and what you thought.

Personally, I REALLY enjoyed this mod for ~25 minutes.  Then started nocicing that almost EVERYTHING required you to research "captain" level supply...so that in order to research things, you have to sacrifice your income, thus making it harder to do research.  At that point I realized I thought this was possibly the dumbest mod I've ever played and uninstalled it.
People should not be afraid of their government...governments should be afraid of their people.

I've played Interregnum quite a bit and have gotten moderate enjoyment out of it. I like it best on 4v4 and eventually 5v5 once the mod is done since I no longer have to double up on any particular faction.

I'd say the best part about Interregnum would be that each faction/sub faction feels a lot more unique. The bonuses are more defining and impactful which makes things a bit more fresh.

Admittedly (perhaps ironically) I didn't play much of the star wars factions because I found them to be so overwhelming to understand. I didn't know what did what or what capital ships did what or what the capital ship abilities did etc etc. I'm sure it must have been like this when I first picked up the game for the in game factions but somehow it just seemed a lot harder to deal with this time. I guess I just didn't really have the patience to learn the new factions.

Another perhaps strange complaint I had was the addition of Hero characters and the free tech for 3 capital ship slots and 150 supply at eight research labs that every faction got in order to employ these heroes. As someone who has a compulsion to employ one of each capital ship model this just became too much to attempt to micromanage. It was already beyond my capability to micro 6 cap ships and a titan optimally, I certainly can't do 9. I also didn't like the tech that allows your capital shipyards and titan yards to upgrade you capitals/titans because I didn't want to have to park them next to the yard for X minutes and bring back my old cap ships to get the upgrades, it was just tedious.

So yea, some random complaints from me here and there. My comp struggles in late game 8+ factions especially when everybody has 150 extra supply to throw around. Still, I have enjoyed the mod quite a bit and might even prefer it to vanilla. That's my take.

I've played Interregnum for around 20 hrs and I liked it. When playing Star Wars factions it feels like you're watching Star Wars movie. That's because of effects: shots, sounds. Also because of dynamics of the game. Altough I liked playing this mod, it's not without flaws:

1. Vanilla Sins factions. I know that it is crossover mod, yes, but I never liked them. I have no emotional or any other connection with them and that's what bothering me to play vanilla Sins.
2. Command. Too little command. ~9 ISDs at maximum, realy?
3. VSDs and Venators as capital ships when you have Tector, Dominator, ISDs? Realy? This may come from playing a lot of EaW and ICW, but still.

Overall this mod is kinda cool, but I still prefer Ascendancy and I doubt I will ever prefer Interregnum when I want to play some Star Wars.
