Without knowing for sure, just going off Honoghr, I'd bet these types have low resources and very slow culture growth.

That's not really a new feature, just a different screenshot. The day/night cycle still exists on these planets, I just took the screenshots from the sides of the planets that were lit up.

Yeah, those lights are all based on team colour. The furnace/maw part probably will be, too.

That is actually the Naval Station, used to designate which planets are to be "fortress worlds".

Mostly correct, we just shifted around the names, so the repair/resupply station is now called the naval station. This is called the command station.
