Return of the Admiral's Lounge
« on: January 31, 2012, 08:26:47 AM »
We've decided to re-activate the Admiral's Lounge, which some of you who have been around for longer may remember. Basically it's a forum that requires 50 posts to get into where we post additional information, renders, plans, etc that we aren't ready to make completely public yet. We do this essentially for the same reason we did the forum betas; encourage community involvement and activity in the development in the mod by opening the process a bit more to others, and to get feedback on what we've already done without having to make it too widely distributed. Along with this, it gives a bit more of an immediate incentive to post and get into the future beta pool.

-Corey

Currently in the Lounge:
-Full unit lists for 2.0
-IDT, Heavy Tracker skinned renders
-A new EotH ship design render
-New map pictures

We've added about 3 units not posted anywhere else, as well as full unit lists and ship stats and a new map in the Lounge now.

Yeah, I had just recently discovered this mod, so don't have many posts either.  Not likely to get up to 50 anytime soon without posting lots of spam.  :(

Well, the point of the forums is for discussion. If you have an idea for the mod, or want to do an overall review or something, then post it. If you find something interesting, then post it in the off-topic board. We used to have a bunch of political and religious debates and whatnot in the Lounge.

Basically, the Admiral's Lounge return is in order to give more immediate rewards/incentives for active community members who contribute, which helps increase the potential beta tester pool. And we also get to post stuff we're not ready to show off completely yet, tentative plans, that kind of thing. I also want to start posting videos, so theyll be posted there first while I get the process sorted out.

Perhaps one can add even more exclusive rewards and status by creating the Grand Admiral's Lounge hm?

A Grand Admiral's Lounge would have to be set at at least 800 posts!

Although the new Admiral's Lounge actually only requires the rank of Stormtrooper anyhow (vs Brevet Admiral for the original AL).. :P

ooh could we have a Warlord's lounge? Then everyone could come up with their own self appointed ranks! I could be Supreme Superior High Grand Admiral Xizer...it rolls right off the tongue!

This is a class idea. The warlords lounge would probably lead to some sort of civil war, for control of the mod, however. lol :P

The original Admiral's Lounge required 150 posts to get into, however the forum was a lot more toxic. I'm sure some of you who were around back then (2007-2008) will remember what I'm talking about...

That being said, as far as a civil war to replace me, good luck with that.

Then maybe I'd come in, gas you all, and inexplicably 20 years later be turned into a hero and subsequently the Chief of State of the largest government in the galaxy.
"That's not what the Empire would have done, Commander. What the Empire would have done was build a super-colossal Yuuzhan Vong-killing battle machine. They would have called it the Nova Colossus or the Galaxy Destructor or the Nostril of Palpatine or something equally grandiose. They would have spent billions of credits, employed thousands of contractors and subcontractors, and equipped it with the latest in death-dealing technology. And you know what would have happened? It wouldn't have worked. They'd forget to bolt down a metal plate over an access hatch leading to the main reactors, or some other mistake, and a hotshot enemy pilot would drop a bomb down there and blow the whole thing up. Now that's what the Empire would have done."

Well Admiral i would like to fight under you any day  =D =D =D =D.

Thank you. You honor me, but my contributions have been fairly minimal. I'm merely a Loyal Son of the Empire who has placed his banner in the TR communities camp. Corey and the team are the true Grand Admirals(or Grand Moffs now isn't it?) that make this all worthwhile. without them I'd have nothing to contribute to.

That being said, as far as a civil war to replace me, good luck with that.
