i want to draw up plans for one now.... like, the Eclipse, but, instead of a superlaser, it has the armament of Executor plus hundreds of torpedoes. that would be awesome.

The Infinities submod?

Replace the turbolasers with Conc. Missiles, and the Superlaser with like 20 Proton torp tubes.

Balance&Flavor submod, started by Vulcanus, now Lord Xizer and Delta are working on it. also, most of the rest of the successful submods have Balance&Flavor compatibility

ok. i don't have the game, so i won't be able to, this is just what will eventually happen

i mean, i could download and edit the mod, but i wouldn't get to see the results, others would have to tell me

also, my computer is beyond wimpy

can you edit the files without having the game?

Of course you can. But you won't know if you're edits work correctly wthout the game to test.

It occassionally goes on sale cheap on steam, despite it's age it's worth picking up for all the changes in 2.2

i don't have steam. anyway, the game would crash instantly on my wimpy 16 Gb hard drive, and the rest of the computer is just as wimpy

yup. it's the Raspberry Pi 3, a learning computer, to learn to program. my future computer will be a fully fledged desk top.

Is it a $50 laptop or something? In my mind its better to save up and buy a usable computer.

It's a SOC (System On a Chip). It's a tiny ARM computer on a little board about the size of a credit card. It's a super inexpensive and has all the basic hardware pieces to use, and has lots of add-ons to expand it's functionality. They are, as DRR points out, often used as teaching aides for programming, although with the 3 you can now run Windows on them even, although most of the OS's for them are a modified version of linux. The good thing about them is that they are a fully funcitonal computer starting at around $5 depending on which board.

Yup. Great as educational devices for sure.
