the effect of livestock on climate change I extremely minor compared to cars and volcanoes.

Not true.  Livestock and the land use required for them are estimated to account for about 18% of human influence on the climate, a close third behind energy production (25%) and industry (21%).  Transportation is in 4th place at 14%.  Volcanoes emit about 1% of the carbon that humans do, so their contribution there is negligible - the main effect of an eruption is sulfur in the upper atmosphere, which causes temporary cooling as it absorbs sunlight.

Yeah, me too.  Although I think my being awful at it is a direct correlation of my having played Ascendency alpha's BEFORE I actually played the "normal" game, and so the normal game left a bad taste in my mouth as badly designed techs.

Just a heads up to anyone who doesn't have Sins yet, the Deluxe Edition that includes the soundtrack and the 2 DLCs is 75% off through the 30th.
Dude, you just gave me the holy grail. there were problems with my CD and the other's steam versions. Put me under some hard time when testing...

yesterday(after 11 hours of work) I only had energy to play about an hour(45 minutes in trying to set up a game of fool's bargain with historically accurate start locations)
Oh, and I will soon post a thread in ascendancy for versions of currently existing maps...

I once set up a game with AIs, with all except one of them on my team, and just built mu scouts until I could see the entire galaxy in its full glory.
(then tried to see if i could identify all planets present, and failed  :(

that chart includes forestry, land use, and what I assume to be anything emitted by crop production. I just mean livestock on there own.

I don't knw where you got this number. It wasn't on the chart. Also the chart does say that the total number does not include the amount of carbon dioxide that is taken out of the atmosphere through the cultivation of crops, so if you want to use the total number you'll have to figure that out.

climate change also involves the world growing colder at times. While it doesn't seem like much, volcanoes lowered the temperature of the planet by a 1 degree C. That's much larger than it seems.

And climate change IS cyclical.  Global Warming begets an ice age, which begets global warming.  The only REAL question is how much we've affected the cycle.

This is a save game type. I start over and over again until I get everyone to start where I want them. I check it by when I start at the position I desire for myself I save and then surrender but keep playing. then the galaxy is revealed. If everyone is in the place I want them to then quit, load the save file and save it in a different name. So I have the start and the game too, and I can replay the scenario from the beggining again and again.

Not bad. Just lost my first game of Ascendancy I've ever played (flagship victory was a bit of a mistake on my part lol). But it is indeed loads of fun. PA definitely has the right feel to it, loved the mass of fighters and bombers.

I think the world is so much better with steam Sins...
It is almost twice as stable as the CD version. With the CD I could play ascendancy with 8 player for 5 hours before the crashing started. With the steam, I can go for 8 and a half hours.
Revanchist, you made my life SO MUCH better :D
