I don't really enjoy stellaris.
I think it is one of the weaker games paradox made.

As much as I like a lot of what Stellaris does, I have to agree - HOI4 is weaker because the AI needs a lot of work, but the underlying mechanics of HOI4 are, I think, stronger than Stellaris's.  In Paradox's defense, I've seen members of the Stellaris dev team talk fairly openly about mistakes they made and the unexpected challenges they faced going into a new genre, but I worry that a lot of the game's flaws aren't going to be fixable by DLC or patches and they'll need to just start somewhat fresh with a Stellaris 2 (and finally move on from the Clausewitz engine and embrace multicore processing) if they want to keep making a push into the space strategy genre.

How did I manage to f*** up that smiley face? You know, I'm not even going to edit it, let my posting incompetence be on display for everyone to see.

Oh, I don't hate Stellaris at all - I've spent like 400 hours on it and consider it money well spent.   But that amount of time has made its shortcomings very apparent, and while with CK2 or EU4 DLC has fixed many issues and fleshed out systems, I worry that Stellaris's ultimate ambitions simply need a new game engine to realize.  Clausewitz wasn't designed for handling massive fleet battles, as late-game lag makes very apparent, and certain features that are largely present because they are 4X staples detract from what I think the game could have been (such as planets having only one biosphere).

It is a good game and well worth playing.  But it is also a flawed game that I don't think is really capable of achieving what Paradox wants it to, which is to truly and effectively meld their grand strategy style with space 4X strategy in a modern game.

No, I agree that it's by far not a flawless game, and all criticism it receives is mostly fair. I hope though that with future patches and DLCs the game can improve at least some of the aspects that have been underwhelming so far. That seems to be Paradox's preferred approach to their releases, which quite understandably frustrates some people, and I totally get it. I'm not playing Stellaris as often as I used to, it has worn out a little, for me, and the flaws are getting more and more apparent. But some of the ideas behind it are still incredible, IMO.

you see, that's my problem as well. I don't hate stellaris, I just don't like it at all. There is a slight difference

what don't you like about it? I think it's playable if extensively modded. not sure I could sit through a long playthrough on vanilla though..

I was just wondering how some people on the forums have so many posts, then I noticed how many pages of this there is.

Problem solved.

Discord community and forum community are separate, there's actually far less overlap than you'd think. The Discord is technically not related to TR directly, though.
I also have a YouTube channel where I talk about mod development and gaming, do tutorials, and Let's Plays. If you like the content, consider supporting it on Patreon

At best there's Micheal, me, and Peutro as the overlap, unless I'm forgetting anyone.

How long has the discord been up for? was it always a coalition type setup between you and Gul, or did you have a separate one for yourself at one point in time?

AdmiralThrawn2, Renx and Helix as well. May be a few others, but that's most of the really active people.

I started it in May of last year, then I think somewhere towards the end of the year I was interviews by Gul and Bane about ICW on GB Gaming, and started talking to them more about collaborative stuff, primarily Sins-based since recording Sins videos alone can be kinda blah, so we made the whole Coalition thing and the server became a group deal.
