One of my favorite memories was one of my wizards was leading a battle (I almost always got stuck with being party leader), and so I wrote down my spell list and gave a copy to the DM just because I had a feeling he might question my spell list when I started casting. So the next day, as the army approaches, my wizard is setting there casting over some giant flaming pits that we had our army build....needless to say, I was summoning a fire elemental that proceeded to lay the smackdown on all the siege equipment the invading army had. When I actually told him what I had cast, he actually face-palmed and his only words were "f me...".

One time I played a bloodthirsty Rogue who thought he was party leader. He was also extremely creepy, and had the habit of forming completely one-sided friendships with the random NPCs the DM would make (it was my way of messing with the DM, forcing him to create character backstories on the spot). This one task was financed by some Prince, but his trusted scribe was our primary channel of information. Needless to say I decided to become his friend. A few well-placed rolls later I had not only convinced him to join our party but also to vouch to the prince that the random item we picked up in the dungeon was actually the McGuffin he wanted, leaving us with the actual item. It was very handy to have a book-smart NPC on the team.

Reusing doesn't refer to just you. you can use a part from a machine someone has cast aside for a new machine, and it is still reusing. recycling usual destroys the item to make something else out of it
