i think with time they will begin to see the very serious flaws in it. It banked solely on nostalgia and prequel hate. Over time it will be seen for what it is though, a shameless carbon copy of ANH without the magic of what it ripped off.

couldn't have said it better myself.
At least we got 1 good thing from TFA.
We hate the prequels a little less. Now we can appreciate that it at least put some effort into itself.
Two more movies like this and we can even forgive the "I don't like sand" line

yeah, EP 1-2 were terrible.... Revenge of the Sith was a little better, with all the battles in there.

Well I and II did have some good fight scenes and visuals as well as showing us Coruscant, the Jedi order and the broader galaxy fleshed out. While I agree they are the weakest films i don't think they are 'bad' films, they definitely feel like SW stories and expand the mythos. Episode III is Franky fantastic, great visuals, the humor is on point the chemistry(for the most part) is natural and you want action this baby is chock full of the good stuff. Yeah it's CGI heavy but fun fact most people miss is the prequels actually had more miniatures sets and practical effects than the old trilogy.

True but to be fair, there was LESS Jar Jar as the films progressed, they learned.

yeah. My fav ship of all time is actually came from the prequels, and it is the Venator. I don't know why, but it just looks awesome.
It makes me remember the ISDs while refreshening the look. They made an in-universe explanation of the dual bridge while making sense that ISDs didn't have them (which is surprisingly well put together) and made me see why the imperial navy became what it is.
Well thought out background, well designed ship, well well, well well...

Dialogue is pretty bad in a lot of places indeed. As far as Jar Jar, if you remove the scenes where he was used intentionally as a joke piece even he's pretty tolerable. Unfortunately pretty well the entire land battle at Naboo was a Jar Jar joke scene.

That's true. Sadly I love RotS but I have to watch TPM and TCW to get to it sometimes. Hey, sometimes you have to suffer to get something good out of it.

i have to say, revenge of the sith remains my favorite star wars movie. Rogue One is a close second though.

if Jar Jar WAS a sith lord, what would the star wars universe look like? any thoughts?
