It happened very fast. Also the Emperor had just died...again and we all know the effect that has on Imperials...

As to having 2 hypervelocity guns, the benefit is double the damage to enemy ships. 1 HVG shot normally does about half a cap ships(mon cals) life of damage, two hits is almost always nearly a kill shot.

I understand your feeling on the matter. The Warlords fascinate me too. Perhaps in the future there will be more options for them, Harrsk, Teradoc, Delvardus are in consideration for IR heroes for certain GC era perhaps Palps and possibly the Pentastar may become playable if there is enough popular demand and reason to do them I suppose.

As to Palpatine being able to deal a terrible blow to the NR in the Shadow Hand GC that's kind of what happened really...The Shadow Hand Fleet exploded from the deep core and ravaged the Core and mid rim without warning and came near to wiping out the NR altogether, in fact it was reduced to the Rebel Alliance almost overnight due to casulties and loss of legitimacy from all the lost worlds the Empire took back.

once an R2 unit destroyed the most powerful SSD ever built, the Imperial Throne World, the Galaxy Gun the Shadow Fleet and 99% of the Imperial Royal Guard with just a course altercation in a computer...

The X Wing novels are second only to Timothy Zahn's Thrawn books I think so I would recommend reading them. That aside you could actually do the viral thing for Derricote, you could have as a bonus for him that any planet he's on enemy infantry take auto damage(sort of like the fire damage on certain worlds) this would make him most useful in defense. Kirtan Loor could have terrorist abilities like when he was leading the Palpatine Counterrevolutionary Front(PCF) by being able to blow up buildings like the Defilers did in the vanilla FoC(could make him a bit like Han and Navett I suppose). Fliry Vorru could also be a useful hero by using the black market to sap credits from the NR(similar to the smuggler but much more effective.) he could pilot a Lambda shuttle(although a bit tougher than standard shuttles) in space. Erisi Dlarit might be a bit redundant as she already has Fel and the 181st...

For Palpatine's Era the Warlords Harrsk, Teradoc and Kaine I suppose with Teradoc giving a cost reduction in VSD construction, Harrsk in ISDs and Kaine giving a production speed bonus(no need to give him Reaper). I guess something to counter the Jedi of the NR other than palps and Sed I suppose...Kir kanos and Carnor Jax(the latter with Vader's abilities against vehicles and infantry)

Corey I can get portraits of the Imperial Leaders. Harrsk, Teradoc, Delvardus, and Convarion will be no problem at all.
How soon would you need them and in what detail? That's all I need to know and it will be done.

I agree. Commando heroes would be nice.
Isard era: Krennal with Reckoning with a fleet commander bonus, Kirtan loor as a spy(with the ability to reveal enemy units in all the systems immediately surrounding him) Evir Derricote with the ability that any planet he's on if invaded enemy units take auto damage due to his viral specs)

Palpatine  era: Harrsk(with an ISDII with proton beam and concentrate firepower abilities) Teradoc(with the 13X VSD with it's abilities) Delvardus with Knigh Hammer(yes I know it's a super ship but it kind of goes with that particular GCs theme I mean all of palps strategy was pretty much super weapons.) with a command bonus and the Dark Side Elite(I know force users and such but again that was something kind of specific to that era.

Pellaeon era: Navett( commando hero undetectable and can move among enemy systems and capable of sabotage, blowing up buildings and causing general mayhem similar to the Defilers in the original FoC) this could really help the IR as they are literally at deaths door in that scenario. Capt. Nalgol with a cloak for his destroyer(balanced by zero line of sight when engaged)

I have to hand it to you, you do know your EU literature. You are right of course. I seem to have mistaken your meaning in your first post. Having the missiles do extensive damage to rather than just penetrating the shields outright would be much more in keeping with things.
I still maintain that the TIE Defender should be a LOT deadlier against fighters as well as capital ships.

2890
Kratas is right, torpedoes are the main threat to capital ships. Just as the rise of torpedo planes and bombers in our world heralded the mortality of the Battleship to air power, Rogue Squadron used numerous opportunities for torpedoes to inflict damage on shielded ships quickly. I think the game is well balanced fighter and bomber wise now personally. (Though I would like to see the Defender fare better as a starfighter as well as a bomber. They get cut up too easily by other fighters when they are actually one of the best fighters in the galaxy.)

Each faction will receive balancing air units right?

it would be pointless to give the NR Viscounts as by the time they were introduced into the war was at or just after the Caamas Crisis.(and let's face it Pellaeon has enough trouble as it is.

I'd suggest also mentioning that unlike the original FoC the heroes don't keep respawning when killed.

2895
Daala didn't try to kidnap the Solo kids, that was the Caridian Ambassador(something about making a new Darth vader or some other hare brained plan)
Also what would be the point of this vehicle? All the mountains in the game are impassable anyway it would be very difficult to code something that could go over them when they are inaccessible to every other unit.
most of the maps are flat ground with small separation of valleys or hills so something designed to go vertically up cliffs might be a bit unnecessary. Also they were never mass produced, the few prototypes that were created were destroyed in the attempted kidnapping and any designs or designers were destroyed with either the orbiting dreadnaught or the planet Caridia.

Star Wars Discussion / Re: George Lucas Promises: No More Star Wars
« on: January 18, 2012, 07:35:31 PM »
Well knowing George, he'll probably not stop completely. He'll always have something new that he wants to do with Star Wars. I both kind of sympathize and am critical of him in this. He has had a very hands off relationship with the SWEU and fans are always wanting more of a good thing which Star Wars is. The problem is that eventually you end up repeating yourself or creating something that just can't compare to the originals. I liked the prequels but a lot of people were very harsh(overly so in my opinion) that they were "not the same" as the old ones. This can't be helped, the originals are LEGENDS, nothing will equal them because people will always judge whatever is new by those LEGENDS, so almost always the new stuff won't measure up in their expectations. George is trying to give people what they want and still do what he wants and make money. I honestly think he's out of ideas though and is trapped in the legacy of something he never expected to become this huge. I mean I even feel that after the yuuzhan vong that should have been it. I mean God look at all that galaxy has been through, I actually feel sorry for most of the characters! The legacy series is just a repeat of the prequels, old republic is a repeat, let's face it. It's time to do like Seinfeld did and say we're ahead but we've honestly done everything, it's time to leave the stage. George has my sympathy in that he's kind of trapped in this, I'm a bit critical of him in the respect he is doing nothing to improve the situation and basically let things run wild that led to this. I'd like to see some of the EU done in a show, the Thrawn Trilogy, Wraith and Rogue Squadron adventures, and the like.(The Yuuzhan Vong War is such a dark one that I don't think anyone short of HBO would touch it and how could you do something on that epic scale?) Basically I don't buy that George is done with Star Wars no more than Han and Lando are done at Sabbac, some things you just can't give up you know?

What do you mean by guinea pigs exactly Corey?

2898
That might be the best solution as it would allow more focus on the two factions and how they interact.(The Yevetha and NR) That might make fitting them in easier as well.

2899
I'm curious as to how we can sandwich the Yevetha between two payable factions(I presume the IR and NR as the EotH had nothing to do with said conflict) because unlike the Hapes Consortium which WAS between IR(or Warlord) factions and the NR in the Galactic Civil War by the time of the Yevethan conflict the IR had been pushed far out into the mid and outer rim nowhere near the Koornatch Cluster(with the exception of very minor replacement Warlords lingering in the Deep Core the IR had no presence in the conflict. Other than the Imperial prisoners who revolted and recaptured the ships in their mutiny at the battle of N'zoth. I remember you telling me we couldn't make the Yevetha playable(without their faction still being labeled IR or EotH and the confusion this would cause of course) How ca we solve this?
Incidentally what are the two EotH worlds going into 1.4, the ones mentioned in crisis of faith?

2900
I understand that there is not a lot of space to work with. How can this be worked around?

Do we have any specific ships from the novels in mind?
