Yeah and sometimes the Ai forgets that they are there i dont know how since the ai is all knowing and they send their fleet along with some galofrees. I always save some fighters to go and look for them and have an interdictor ready to stop them from escaping.

A good strategy. I have also noticed the AI doing this.

that..sounds horrible. jesus christ, im glad i dont play multiplayer.

It's like trying to stop the Flood from absorbing all life! You have to Death Star EVERYTHING to sanitize the galaxy!(Of course they can even F*** this up by using IG88 to hack the Death Star)

I say leave the flak in personally. I think it's visually stunning and offer a downloadable patch for those who don't want it, that way both sides are happy.

Star Wars Discussion / Re: Star Wars v. Star Trek
« on: June 14, 2012, 03:23:18 AM »
Unquestionably the Imperial Star Destroyer would annihilate the Enterprise with little to no effort.
I present the following arguments in favor of the ISD,

1)The ISD has more weapons of heavier power on it's bow than the Enterprise does in it's entirety.
2)Lasers are CONSIDERABLY more powerful in the SW universe than anything the trekkies have seen by comparison.(I.E. slagging surfaces of entire worlds on their own was standard procedure for an ISD)
3)The ISD has fighter and bomber squadrons(total of 84 fighters and bombers) in addition to assault shuttles and boarding parties while the Enterprise has six transport shuttles(unarmed as I recall). The concussion missiles and proton bombs of the TIE bombers would shred the Enterprise's shields and it was not built to counter fighter threats.
4)The ISD carries 9,800 or so Stormtroopers and can if need be transport them in battle via assault shuttles to the enemy ship. The Enterprise carries NO ground troops as I recall(Red shirts only count as meat shields)
5)The ISD has ion cannons which are specifically designed to knock out shields and the electrical equipment that runs a ship. The Enterprise would be stripped and defenseless in a single salvo, then ripped apart at the ISD's leisure.
6)The ISD has multiple tractor beams capable of holding a ship of Enterprise's size which would negate any maneuverability or speed advantage the smaller ship might possess.
7)The ISD can outlast an Enterprise in the supply area as well as it has enough consumables and supplies to run 6 years on it's own. So if it came to a chase the ISD could keep going long after the Enterprise's crew had run out of supplies.
8)Finally the sensors on the ISD were LIGHT YEARS(lol pun) ahead of the Enterprise's being able to detect with exact accuracy enemies on the far side of a system. If the Enterprise tried to run the ISD could most likely extrapolate their destination and be there ahead of them on their hyperdrive.

I've never liked the Trek but I based this off military study, knowledge of both SciFi universes and statistics without bias. The ISD comes out ahead in all categories, sorry trek, this round goes to Wars.

What didn't you like about the second one?

The storyline was terrible, it undid everything meaningful about the first one(the sacrifice, the deep characters-THE POINT!) It also had no real improvements in gameplay, answered no questions(indeed only brought MORE of them) didn't really have an ending that made sense and just in general came across as well we want to make money by making a sequel...but we kind of wrote ourselves in a hole by killing the main character off in the first title-so BS undo Retcon and we'll just make it up as we go.

I think they should have instead done Luke, Kyle, or Corran in a Force Unleashed kind of way-the powers and graphics but focused on the rich underdone stories AFTER Endor! Say Kyle Katarn in the Valley of the Jedi but with those massive powers, Corran on his hunt for his wife, or Luke on Byss, Dathomir, Wayland, or a dozen other things with him! They were powerful and with vision and effort those could have been AMAZING Games!

On the subject of starfighters, I was reading about the Venator somewhere, and it said that the second bridge was a starfighter command center. So I was thinking that it could, either by its presence or by special ability, boost the starfighters stats.

This sounds intriguing.

I am looking forward to the new SW game...as long  as it goes better than the Force Unleashed.

The first Force Unleashed wasn't bad(had a good story) but the second one just disgusted me and ruined any good from the first one.

No matter how fun rolling enemies over with super ships is...I would definitely prefer to have few ships, I value them much more and I am much more cautious...which is a better way o doing things for me.

I agree

Cool. The Hailfire Droid will be fun to play with. It would be neat if they came with a separate refill droid, that would automatically refill the missiles. Therefore, you would have to protect them to ensure your Hailfires wouldn't run out of missiles.

interesting concept but then wouldn't the NR's missile tanks also need re fillers?

Well a problem with most of those is that other than a class name there is little to no info on them. Most have no design or stats. The few that do, like the Allegiance class would merely be performing identical roles as the Praetor IIs. It would become a mass super ship concept like the UEAW mod. Having a few super ships makes them valuable, strategic and balanced while still leaving the mod varied and fun. Right now there is the Praetor II, Sovereign SSD, Executor SSD, Eclipse SSD, Viscount, and possibly the Vengeance SSD. They are spaced out and rare so as to be tactically useful but not overwhelming.

There was talk of the EX-F being an idea but no stats or design for it exist.

Wow, this is cool. The Floating Fortress will be like the Juggernaut, I suspect?

Command vehicle and transport I think they said so yes.

These look amazing guys! The Navy Troopers, Dark Jedi, Hail Fire and Floating Fortress especially make me eager to get my hands on the Alignment! The yellow highlights on the infantry and vehicles adds distinction as well! I MUST UNLEASH THEM UPON THE GALAXY!

The distinction between fighters and bombers is determined by reload times and pulse counts, and as before the lack of infite missiles/torpedos is taken into account in reload times (X-Wings fire one proton torpedo every 30 seconds, Y-wings 1 every 10). The protons won't be able to attack other fighters (the video had this but it's because of the transition currently being in progress), concs will. While the Empire benefits less from the proton changes, even the Conc changes don't make it terribly outclassed since the only fighter which has those now and didn't before is, I think, the A-Wing. It won't drastically change how the game is played. Out of everyone, the Empire of the Hand came off the worst in the changes in my opinion. We're still debating whether or not to keep the protons bypassing shields. Other than that it's all still with the range of where it was before.

Well there's give and take in anything.
