Really?  Your units stay put?  I've never seen that.  I've found that Frigates and most cruisers stop and stay, but capital ships I literally hit S constantly and they come to a stop and then immediately start moving again as soon if there's basically any enemy anywhere on the screen that isn't covered by fog of war.

Depends for me.  IF the conc carriers are only a few ships and I have lots of projectile-less fighters, I assign them to targeting capital ships with any bombers I have.  If all my fighters have projectiles, then I usually assign them to fighters and assign torpedo carriers to capital ships.

The Lounge / Re: How Do We Feel about J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Reboot?
« on: July 13, 2018, 12:55:20 PM »
I was very against them, but admit I've enjoyed them mostly.  The first one was a bit too much stereotypical Abrams (LENS FLARE* LENS FLARE* LENS FLARE*!!), but after that I've thought they were good movies that manage to maintain the spirit of Star Trek while giving the writers the freedom to originate without having to justify it, nor without invalidating that which had come before.

Yeah, I just started with that strategy last night (can't believe I'd never tried double clicking the units before lol) and it seems to help a lot. Thanks for the reply :)

Control + Click also selects all units of the same type.

Ascendancy Discussion / Re: How to capture ships as IR?
« on: June 29, 2018, 09:39:13 AM »
I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but the ship to capture must be near destruction.  So it can't have shields and hull must be low.  Then the mole miners are deployed and if the ship isn't destroyed after the mole miners take it, then it becomes yours.  Someone else probably can be more exact on numbers, but the key is that it needs to be near destruction when you activate it to have a chance.  Also, obviously, you have to be Pellaeon/Thrawn as your faction...

Missile Boat would be OP'd given that it was designed around 1 objective, take out the Tie Defender.

Star Wing would be a great add for an Imperial splinter that needed some extra oomph, since they're faster (although still slow) and shielded and thus have a HUGE advantage in survivabity when compared to the Tie/Sa, while not being any heavier armed, being able to survive to make more than 1 pass (probably) makes them far superior.

My god it's been a long time since I've heard bolt thrower.  Loved to listen to that on the way to motocross back in my younger days.

Nebula overall is a slightly better ship IMO, but the difference in pop cost makes me take the MC90 every time.

I don't believe there are any ads once you log in.  They're only there when using as a guest.  I have scripts allowed universally for this site, and never see an ad after I log on.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: SSD's Unplayable?
« on: May 29, 2018, 09:16:56 PM »
It's how you use them my friend,

Don't jump the SSD in initially, use another ship to clear fog of war first then drop the SSD in either the middle or right beside the main enemy fleet. Jump in support ships around it when the enemy focused on the SSD. The SSD can both take and give a tremendous amount of punishment allowing you to focus and pick apart the enemy. Instead of clicking a target to 'attack' click a destination slightly away from it. While not foolproof this does help with the pathfinding. Because if you click to attack something it will try and bring all weapons to bear and this confuses it since by turning half turn away so it spins or rotates.

The one thing I would add, is if you're going agsainst a fleet with a LOT of bombers, DO NOT drop the SSD in.  Bombers will shred the shields in milliseconds, far faster than an entire fleet could ever hope to.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: Ground combat auto-resolve
« on: May 29, 2018, 09:47:02 AM »
People hating on ground combat in ICW makes me sad.  :( I, personally, love them as much as space battles, if not more. Hope I'm not the only one, lol.

Depends on who I'm playing against, but ground battles I think can be fun.  I don't like going against AI NR (mptl still seems to outrange every other artillery in the game while not being significantly weaker), but almost all the other factions are fun to play against since the AI generally builds a diverse fleet.

I'll see it wken it's on broadcast tv or possibly a less than perfectly legal free streaming site.  IE - I'll see it when I can see it for absolutely free.

I don't hate anyone that doesn't drive where I am.  My hatred is reserved for the truly idiotic that likes to drive 10 mhp+ under the speed limit in the left hand lane.

That said, I can want to crush someone's skull open and use it as a serving tray for chocolates without hating them.

Also with Dave.  I paid to see VII, I made sure not to see anything else in the theatres.  And was very glad on VIII I hadn't.

(Australian accent) That's not a knife [pulls out a bigger knife]. Now THAT's a knife!

Sorry, you were talking about knives and Australia, so I couldn't resist.

That was such a great movie.  I need to see that again.
