I'm not sure that's an entirely fair comparison.  Phantom Menace wasn't aligned with a newly blank slate expanded universe - most of the related media which followed that film's release was heavily influenced by or related to the previous nine years of world-building.

From a quick look at your list the only novels that don't directly rely on something that came out before TPM are the Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy and Tales from the New Republic, with the Jedi Apprentice series and Rogue Planet as tie-ins with the new movie rather like the "Journey to.." stuff Disney has done for both Force Awakens and Last Jedi.  There's a lot of young reader/young adult content in both lists (which I never read in the old EU anyway), and the games are much of a muchness for both (lots of movie tie-ins for TPM, lots of mobile/casual games for TFA).

That's the problem ! They only do complements to the movies, nothing original, nothing interesting,... It's not fair to compare good to bad but yet...

It's their choice to make it blank for creative freedom, it's their choice to not use their so-called creative freedom and always rehashing and produce unimpressive content.

The story group releases less books comics and video games because it is trying to keep a straightfoward canonity

And to say the least it's a big failure. Nothing changed with the "new" Story Group. Also I was not talking about quantity but about quality something the new EU is lacking. Here's the list of EU content besides the first movie of a trilogy :

We need to give this new canon a chance. We are talking 30 years of expanded universe lore vs about half a decade of Canon lore in the new canon. Good Star Wars movies, books, comics, and TV shows will have to come around.

I've compared on another forum the good content we had the two years besides TPM to what we had besides TFA... The comparison put to shame the Story Group Canon. You can take any period between 1991 (the start of a monitored coherent continuity which was nothing less than the curent Story Group) and 2014, that's better than any time period since the reboot (not to mention the rehashing, like Thrawn).

I am thinking of a system a little like the Eugen Systems games (Steel Division:Normandy 1944) where you create a deck of units. It's maybe possible to make an equivalent with a GC with each player have a limited pop cap and amount of money (which can't be augmented). Their planets allow them to built heroes and ships while they're not allowed to move (like what you do with Byss in the Shadow Hand GC) until a defined time (allowing them to built their entire fleet). That's just some ideas thrown to have short but intense games, but if we can have something with lore based fleets, that's even better !

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Another idea for sort of skirmish
« on: January 05, 2018, 02:53:15 AM »

Hello guys,

I tought of a way to have quickly set up fleet battles. At the start you chose one of the pre-defined limited roster such as Isard's Bacta War fleet (Lusankya, 2 ISD-II & 1 VSD-II), Zsinj's Group One (Iron Fist, 1 ISD, 1 VSD, 2 Dreadnaught, 1 Carrack, 1 Quasar Fire & 1 Lancer), Solo's fleet (Mon Remonda, 1 MC80b, 2 ISD-II, 1 ISD-I, 1 MC80 Liberty, 3 Nebulon-B, 1 Quasar Fire, 1 CR90 & 1 Marauder), one of A'baht's task force, and so on with Thrawn, Ackbar and others. I think we can have more or less balanced fleet battles. I believe it would be nice to play that alone but also in multiplayer. Is that feasible and worth it in your point of view ?

Multiplayer / Sins' DLC

Hello,

Depending with which of my friends I am playing Ascendancy, I had to deactivate DLCs to play and save games. Are we missing things playing without these DLC ?

I won't even go to the theatre.
I won't support Disney's policy on this type of thing.
Because they are going to do it unless ticket sales drop and they don't have money.
As long as they get money, we can say whatever we want, they won't listen because they see that numbers are up and nothing else matters to them.

I won't either.

The Empire was defeated in one year after Endor, then the New Republic was defeated in one hour during TFA...

I was sure it was about recruiting new soldiers (why would they need that Aqualish either way ?) but when they say they captured enough childs to reclaim the Galaxy... WTF ? Nobody suspected that ?

Just because TLJ needed that the good guys were on the run...

Ascendancy Tech Support / Credits lost with Daala
« on: November 23, 2017, 02:35:31 AM »
Hello,

I had an issue multiple times with the IR. When I had Daala, alive and well, when I reached 10,000 credits sometimes, the 10,000 credits were removed from my total like to build Daala but as I already have her, the credits were just lost. Particulary painful when you want to build a regular Executor. Is that a known issue or is there another explanation ?

Thanks for the update and the hard work, this looks awesome !

The story is not bad but disapointing. It portrays some event of the Story Group Canon but there's few really new content (except the characters which are quite good).

94
However I now have a new question: Could Rey's parents possibly be Iden Versio and Del Meeko? Just saying it is possible.

There's still people interesting by this subject ?

I imagine they wanted to avoid the scenario of the old Expanded Universe where post-Endor was up for grabs by multiple authors all contradicting each other.

The few contradictions were worth considering the quality of the stories.

Anyway I felt like you guys, Disney are the specialists as making hype (via teaser and trailer) over something that's end being awful (TFA, every seasons of Rebels,...) and sadly that's apply to BF II too. I fell for it like everyone, also thanks to the promising novel. It's depressing how much of bad content we had lately.

Hello guys, here's my opinion on the boarding ability :

The unit is well shielded and probably too much armored. But anyway, what really bother me is that the failure of the boarding did not destroy the unit. If the shuttle fail to enter it can make sense but that mean every time the boarding crew get inside they suceed to take control of the ship ? Also I believe there's no cooldown for the ability. All would be ok if that was a hero ability (Judder Page's Commando) but if you can produce such units (depending of the cost of course), that would be too powerful, particulary as I believe the AI can't use it.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: Nebula and endurance talk
« on: October 23, 2017, 03:01:22 AM »
In my 2.15 installation I boosted the shield refresh rate of the Nebula and Endurance, and lowered the population cost of the Endurance.

I found the pop cost of the Endurance to high too.

Which why I like how Director Krennic, and Thrawn in cannon is more willing to get his hands dirty compared to other commanders like Rae Sloane, Moff Tarkin, and General Hux. I Like when you see Krennic actually go out himself to capture Galen Erso, instead of sending his death troopers alone. Same with Thrawn, he personally led the ground assault on the rebels, with his own death troopers.

And taking unnecessary risks ? No that's not what I expect from a clever Navy commander. The place of such character is on the bridge of capital ship except if you want to make him look stupid. The EU's Thrawn would not have faced a force user without a Ysalamari and any other potential ennemy without an overwhelming tactical advantage. Troy Denning have also done that to a lesser extent before Rebels but that's still anoying. For Krennic, it's a little different. He has to act, the Rebels should be stopped at all cost and it even make sense to jeopardize his life if that can make a difference.

98

The Anakin/Dooku duels are non-sense if you consider the movies. That's for that they created Ventress (and also Durge), to provide a opponent to Anakin that is dangerous but that Anakin can fight and defeat to gain experience. The fight in RotS make no sense if Anakin and Dooku clashed every week during the CW.

Star Wars Discussion / Re: Thrawn sequel
« on: October 06, 2017, 06:20:14 PM »

We know not much about it but indeed maybe it took place after S4 of Rebels. We only know Thrawn will be paired with Vader. I need more infos to be hyped ;)

Same as tlmiller, except I made the effort to watch all of them lately. That confirmed what I suspected, most are awful, just a dozen episodes are watchable (of about 120 !). I'm gld I didn't grew up with them. Watch Genndy Tartakovsky's CW Cartoon, that's poetry and it didn’t treat the audience like children, instead using a sophisticated array of cinematic technique to convey complex themes without being blatant.

But I can still mention my favorite moments :
 - S4E12-13 : Infiltration of Anakin into a slave organisation
 - S5E15 : The duel between Pre Vizsla and Maul (sure not as magnificient as the Anakin/Ventress duel on Yavin IV but still a good asymetrical combat)
