Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: Nebula and endurance talk
« on: October 22, 2017, 01:19:16 PM »
In my 2.15 installation I boosted the shield refresh rate of the Nebula and Endurance, and lowered the population cost of the Endurance.

I disagreed with the mod team that the Nebula should be a glass cannon considering their typically high attention to detail referencing the legends canon.   All this worry about OP Nebulas while the Pentastar Alignment spams massive fleets of OP Preators with free SSD's.

AI defending fleets are still parking under their golans.

I would like to try the 2.2 demo but don't want to delete or uninstall my existing 2.15 installation.

Is this possible?

Hi Corey,

Thank you for the videos.

Aside from the discussed  changes to the armored freerunner and AAC is there any changes to the NR space fleet besides the addition of the Dauntless cruiser?

I spent a lot of time pausing the videos during space battles looking for changes in hard points or descriptions.

I recommend the following:

Reduce MC40 population cost OR add a heavier weapons load starting with missles.

Increase Assault Frigate weapons load so it performs as it's description and lore suggests.

Discourage the use of spammed Dreadnaughts (it's the only heavy hitter the NR has for a long time) through limited production, massive upkeep costs or perhaps another solution.

Address the DP20 very weak weapons.

I would like to see some changes to the Nebulon frigates.  The Nebulon is useless against pretty much anything and the Quasar is a better carrier.  The Nebulon B2 is nearly as useless in ship to ship combat as the original Nebulon.

Take a look at the Corona.  Rarely fires it's weapons and missles just loop around it.

Increase Nebula shield refresh rate to at least that of an ISD.

Increase Endurance shield refresh rate.  Decrease Endurance population cost.  It is way over costed.

Obviously these are my suggestions, not yours.  Looking foreword to the rest of the NR gameplay.

So is this just for the steam version? What of those of us who have it on CD?

I suspect we will have to keep using the defreezer.  Hopefully the TR team will continue to consider us in their plans.

ISDI has better shield regen than ISDII but ya the "deuce" is better overall, as it should be.

Re, CCVSD is great ship.

Tector is already much more of a ship than the ISD.  Most underrated ship in the mod.   Hangered Imperial fighters are rubbish and are usually depleted after a couple minutes anyways.

The VSD's are fine as is.  Significant differences in their behaviors, and they don't really fill the same roles.  Probably the VSD1 gets more love, but the VSDII is surprisingly fast and maneuverable.  Even with the terrible pathfinding in the game you can park a VSDII in a very small space.  Great for flanking big fleets to take the heat off your ISD's or chasing ships that a Carrack/Strike Cruiser can't handle.

ISDI and ISDII currently do behave differently in battle, and I believe their respective costs are going to be adjusted for a larger price difference between them.

This is going to be huge.  Great work.

Is the population cap now 60?

3. The Allegiance is a very powerful ship and it's a very powerful asset although it's range should match more of the Praetor's than just an ISD (in my opinion)

Is the Praetor's range going to be reduced?

Maybe we can make it so only people with a University education/ currently in one and finally those older than 19, I think that will filter out some of those people

University attendance is not a guarantee that one can conduct himself in a respectable manner.

A University education is not a measure of higher intelligence either but that is another can of worms.

Well, rougue Squadron never was the most reliable source. It many times had information that went against many other sources. X wing alliance on the other hand had the Y-wing considerably slower than the X-wing which was actually slower than both the TIE fighter and especially the Interceptor.
For me, if I wanted to shot down a Y-wing as a TIE interceptor I had to take my engines down to about 60% so I won't just fly past it or right into it. It has shields, TIEs... not so much.
As for RofJ which I presume Return of the Jedi, sometimes pacing needs some cheating

My family's Packard Bell Pentium 75mhz could not run xWing Alliance but yes the Y-wing has always been described as slow.

It's just something that has always bummed me out.  Those two big ass engines, chasing down TIE Interceptors in Return of the Jedi...

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: NR's Multi-purpose ships
« on: April 28, 2017, 12:03:14 AM »
No. We want Assault Frigate to be changed because of HER lore. I already listed my findings from the ORIGINAL sources that first statted out both ships. see below.
Now, what makes AF unique? She's faster and more maneuverable because of cut down superstructure and added maneuvering fins. She has stronger shields to make up for loss of her hull durability. And well, apparently deploying (supporting) two squadrons of starfighters (in ICW 2.2). Compared to Imperial Dreadnaught.

Yes sir.  Hobbes has gotten to the bottom of this.

Rebel Y-Wings which are said to move like a "sleepy Hutt".

Thanks for the memories.  Much of my youth was spent playing N64 "Rogue Squadron"

Still, I never bought "slow" Y-Wings.  Maybe sluggish in regards to maneuverability but not slow.  RofJ shows Y-Wings keeping pace and shooting down TIE Interceptors.   :o

Was the DP20 on PTE at the time? Have you tried using it against TIE Defenders?

Political infighting was also popular among the New Republic. Don't have to deal with that ingame.

I wanted to find a use for this ship.  I searched the forum and it was recommended to use it as a scout so I used it as such, and then parked it in an asteroid field.  No need for PTW there.  Anyways the battle went on for a while, and I checked up on it to see it getting ravaged by the Preybirds.

Last time I used that ship.  I now sell the ones I get when the game starts.  Someone said in another thread that the CR90 can do anything better and they are 100% correct.  Worst NR space unit in the game.  I will take a Sacheen, Corona or Marauder Cruiser over the DP20.

39
You'll see about the DP20. It just has to be used right.

And since when is the Dreadnaught unpopular? It's one of the most well regarded ships (minus the VSD1) I've seen on the forum.

Also the Dauntless is supposed to be in the demo. A sturdy ship that's defensive, but with ions and turbos.

The DP20 rarely fires it's weapons.  I lost all respect for this ship when I lost one to a squadron of Preybirds.

A ship with a crew of 16000 would not be popular to the fledgling NR.  The whole reason the Assault Frigate exists.

Edit: Original post was posted in wrong thread.

If I get time this weekend (I probably won't) I'm going to download 2.2 and use the DP20, Assualt Frigate, and Nebulon B as Frigates with MC80s as a fleet and see if that still works. As using the multipurpose ships together makes up for the deficiencies. The laser cannons aren't that bad.

I would throw a couple CR90's in your fleet because the DP20 is absolutely incompetent at anything besides full time PTE.
