Actually working on making the reverse happen. I.E you fight through his armada then he spawns against you.
Ok, I like that actually.
I haven’t messed around to much with unit placement XML before, by your words i’m guessing you found a way to force a unit to be in a reserve slot?

If i could make a suggestion, maybe tone down the number of ships under Grunger's armada, or at least the ones in orbit with him. I can get not wanting him to be a push-over sort of, "boss" fight, but he's already in an SSD, so 90% of the time, auto-resolving the battle will end in a player loss.  It wouldn't really feel too fun to take down Joseph, but then still need to fight like 20+ more support ships that will all spawn in at once and likely on top off each other the moment he dies, not to mention all the fighters they'll spawn in as well. I say this because the exact scenario happened to me in my Black Fleet Crisis playthrough during the beta so far, and needless to say, it was not fun seeing the AI bring in 15 thrust ships the moment after Dille Bar died.

I also intend to add in Grunger, Pitta and Tigellinus into that sub mod I mentioned. Grunger and Pitta will be part of the Warlords sub group above Gargon and Corellia respectively, each will have a large amount of space forces but few ground forces. Tigellinus will have his ISD and grant similar bonuses as Takel and Makati(but in my sub mod those will stack) Grunger will have the SSD Aggressor and Pitta will have a modified and larger Torpedo sphere that does much more damage. So with this you don't get Batch but you will get
Grant(PA)Thrawn(IR,EotH)Syn(GM)Makati,Takel,Tigellinus(IR)Grunger,Pitta(Warlords) that is eight out of the thirteen Grand Admirals. I am working with my fellow submodders to make each Grand Admiral have benefits that are unique to their command style and personalities.
I was going to do a similar thing in a sub mod I'm planning, adding Pitta and Grunger as NPC Warlords. Though, I'm also working on implementing a "What-If" GC where the NR as to defeat the IR under the control of the remaining Grand Admirals. A more refined and stable execution than what was done in the More Sub-mod for the Demo.

Star Wars Discussion / Re: First Order's Origins?
« on: February 12, 2018, 02:27:44 PM »
While I'm giving the new canon a chance, a lot of it is really just massive plot holes, like the First Order forming from the weak remnants of the Empire, somehow finding enough resources and power to conquer the entire galaxy in a couple weeks and build a super death star that destroys the entire republic fleet of 12 ships and insta-kills any form of protection the galaxy had except for the 4 ship powerful resistance, which then got blown up, so now the fate of the galaxy relies on 12 guys in the falcon.

I'm sure 'the allies scattered in the outer rim' are really op though too.

Current Canon is pretty trash at the moment to be honest, excluding Rogue One and imo Kylo Ren. Everything else is really just poo in the loo to me, especially the stuff post endor pre episode 7.
I can accept how they got their soldiers, which involved giving kidnapped children a more luxurious life as a imperial soldier as opposed to remaining poor on whatever backwater planet they use to live on. The rest was brainwashing them into believing that the New Republic was an evil organization. Supposedly Starkiller base started construction as an Imperial project before the Frist Order took over. However, where they got over 30 RSD’s from, plus however many Mandator IV’s will probably never be a good explanation. They ether built them on Snoke’s ship, built them on a shipyard they either found or made themselves, or outsourced them, and each of those ideas sounds more preposterous than the last. That being said though, I think Snoke’s ship might have been a creation of his own, before he found the IR, which I would be ok with if we ever find out more about Snoke himself, because supposedly, the Supremacy was the FO’s capital.

I think we really don't need ZC. I prefer more new factions withnout ISDs. :D
Blitzer Harrsk is also hero in Imperial Remnant in ERA 1 and 3, ever Dominion and Megador will be in IR. Maybe if you have Harrsk, IR can have access to some unique ZC's stuff simitary as Maldrood with Leonia Tavira.
Maybe as a catch to not immediately side with Isard in Era 1 GC’s, you can buy either Dominion and Megador for less from Harrsk’s location before he defects. (No need for this to exist in Era 3 since the player can already buy Sovereigns and has the Eclipse.)
Other than that, I can’t think of much else.

More generally, with the faction limit Jorrit discovered, which presumably isn't a side effect of something else, we basically planned out what our theoretical full roster of factions would be, given unlimited resources. Right now Zero Command is still there, but given one extra option, Zero Command would be the one most likely to be bumped off and put into the 'Warlord' faction, and therefore not playable. We already have so many Imperial-based factions that trying to scrape the bottom of the barrel for enough content to make Zero Command worthwhile really isn't gonna get us much mileage, especially when that content, in terms of ship classes if not heroes, could be used to diversify the other Warlords more.
I agree with you on that, and my thoughts on the matter are still the same as my first post. The thought process here being, if the decision was ever made to make them playable, there would be a thread already existing with some ideas to use as a potential foundation to build of off.

I think they "hide" in the unknown regions and build there fleet there and so they reorganized into the first order. Snoke maybe was found by the remannts in the unknown regions and join them because at this time they maybe dont had an leader and how kylo  joint them... i dont know
Most of what was left of the Empire that entered the Unknown Regions were fanatics and sociopaths. It wouldn't surprise me if Hux Senior established a Coup against Rae because she wasn't as... "devoted" to the Imperial cause as they were.

Corey mention before the orginial plan was to Zero Command, but this change, because people requested Eradiu instead.

I also spoke to Corey and he said the EA will not be playable in 2.2 reunification. The reason is because they only control 1-3 planets, where as Maldrood control still a good chunk of territory after Shadow Hand. Zero Command honestly becomes more relevant during the post Era 2 time. During Era 2, Harsk, Kosh Teradoc, and Delvardus were fighting for control of the deep core instead of helping Thrawn (which could possibly be a fun mini gc for a submod.) Zero Command is more relevant in the Carnor Jax/ post death of Oldman Palps time. They expanded and tried to secure more resources until era 4 where they rivial Greater Maldrood.
Right as you may be about ZC being a more relevant force post Era 1, if they are to become playable at some point, they'd most likely be playable in one of the Era progressive GC's like Empire's at War. If such shall be the case, then Zero Command will need a lot of work done regarding their status in Era 1. Once that is done, their roster and territory in  Era's 2 and 3 will become much easier to work on as it is near identical to what it'll be in Era 4.
(Thanks to Xizer with his recommendations for a potential Era 4 hero list, could help build a foundation to work off of.)

Bumping this again because I've drawn up some more ideas, these ones are a bit more simple and less "what-if"-ish.

1. Belgaroth as territory in Era 1: The junk planet was described as the main fortress world of ZC during it's start. It, alongside Abregado-Rae, had to be abandon in 5 ABY as the New Republic moved closer to the Core. Adding Belgaroth to the map would give ZC some much needed territory for Era 1 play.

2. Lieutenant Zuud as a Era 1 hero: Zuud was a female Imperial Officer stationed on Kalist IV. She worked under the Analysis Bureau of Imperial Intelligence, and was one of the Empire's most effective interrogators. Zuud was an enthusiastic sadist, so effective at torture, that she could instantly determine a prisoner's limits as she began interrogation. Being a psychopath, she and Blitzer sound like a good pair... I joke, she has never been detailed leaving Kalist, so I assume that she was still there when Harrsk took over. Being a master interrogator, she can work well with gathering intelligence, perhaps even allow for the construction of a special type of prison.

3. Arrowhead Command as a "Hero": Harrsk's old command he took with him to the Deep Core, I base this idea of off Task Force - 24 from EAW:RE, in which a single ISD garrisons in two more after it's sent into battle. Other than Teradoc, the other Warlords don't really own a named task force(s) like the NR or the EOTH, so ZC having a set of named ships that have their own special function adds a bit to the factions much needed uniqueness. The names for these ships would be the Firestorm, Meniscus (GA Batch's ship), and Whirlwind if Harrsk is kept in the Shockwave before Era 4, if not, a new weather related name can be created for a new third ship...   Hailfall?

And here's a curiosity I found during research...

4. Ilthmar's Fist?: What a strange occurrence, I would've let this taken the third slot in Arrowhead Command had I not learned that it was not an ISD, but actually an unclassified battlecruiser that Harrsk took to Kalist. Three ships in the Empire had the legitimate classification of "Battlecruiser," these were the Praetor MK II, the Allegiance class, and the Tagge. So this thing was one of two Battlecruisers that took a part in the Battle of Endor, the other was the Pride of Tarlandia, a communications ship, and second in common of Death Squadron, next to the Executor. Funnily enough, POT has no official class name either, other than "Communications ship." I guess this means that Ilthmar's Fist could literally be any one of the previous three classes, or even a completely unique ship. So, what does everyone else think?

« on: February 05, 2018, 02:32:58 PM »
ah, sorry for the misunderstanding then. I get it like this.
Language barriers. XD
I admit it though that I liked the Clone Wars cartoons as well(both 2d and 3d). The 2d was something I watched as a kid, so it had that going for it next to a solid story and characters. I felt grievous was his best there.
I haven't watched TCW until recently, but I kinda liked it. Granted I went into it by kniowing that it didn't really care about much established lore before it, so I kinda took the whole thing to an experimental level and considered it an alt-star wars universe.
You know, like what if russia never went communist and such.
In this what if Anakin got a Padawan, and this makes it absolutely enjoyable.
Thats kind of how I treated the 3d show as well. I thought giving pre-Vader Anakin a padawan was kind of a "jumping the shark moment", but Ashoka's execution ended up being pretty good all things considered. Nothing will ever touch what Genndy T. put out in 2003 though, that little show was so well directed and animated.

Looks promising so far, surprised they kept Han's past as an Imperial drop-out, even if it isn't the same position.

One thing here If I can have a saying, and this is for something a bit back.I DON'T think that a show has to be dummed down and have lots of explosions because it is a kids show.
Kids are not dumb, they are inexperienced, and I actually think that a cartoon that is fun, but have a deeper side is actually great. Just look at Gravity Falls for example.
My little sister got me into GF and I had a blast from it, and I loved to discuss the things behind it with both my sis and my friends whom I got into watching the show.
And that's why I started talking about philosophy and analysis with my sister who was about nothing but girly stuff before. Never underestimate the power of a well written cartoon that doesn't treat it's fans as dumb, but as intelligent.
Oh don't get me wrong, I totally agree with you, but I was trying to give Taupin a reasonable explanation for why the show seemed so simple, at least, from his perspective. My favorite show that's on right now is Steven Universe, well, "on" is kind of pushing it... whatever, that show has some very complex themes to it. CN isn't like the Disney channel, funnily enough, (cause we're talking about Star Wars,) cartoons that follow a consistent timeline or a bigger picture just seem to suffer under Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, they don't air reruns of shows like that because they think the people watching it would be confused if they haven't watched the whole series, hence why the easy cash cows like TTG and Spongebob are the only thing that ever seems to air on either channel now and days and why you'll be pressed to find airings of Adventure Time or Steven Universe on CN. (Granted, even older episodes of Spongebob still have clever enough writing in them for adults to enjoy.) I think this was something that the production team was aware of and is why the first few seasons of TCW had such simple and safe content.

Compare the Original Movies, the Prequel Movies, the cartoon CW and the animated TCW. The former three can be watched by child and yet the adult can found something for them in it. Each screen of Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars had strenght, not just filler to go up to 20 min.

Are you kidding ?
Big picture with battle of no more than 50 participants, Ashoka seeking her lightsaber, Gungan diplomacy, zombies, Godzilla-like, Obi-Wan faking his death or Dooku and ANakin tied together by a band of pirates ?
Mandalorian pacifists is no fan service, it's fan insult... And so on with Vos, Ventress, Barriss, Aura Sing, the Night sisters,...

Sure if we live in a world where you need a movie every year (even if the quality suffers from that) to people have interest in something :(

Ahah I noticed I got a -2 today for telling my view of TCW, I feel some get butthurt by a reality check on it
-What constitutes as filler to you? I can argue that both cartoons are entirely filler because neither advances the bigger picture set up by episode 2 and pays of in episode 3.
-The show didn't really have the budget to portray massive battles, and by no way am I trying to come off as mean or offensive, but you sound like someone who hate change, it's different so I don't like it. Yes, some things were bad, but ultimately, the new direction taken on these old concepts ultimately makes them more interesting in the long run. (Bariss was the bare minimum of a character in legends, I'm amazed that what was essentially a background character got so much attention in the show.) Also, you can't list want you can consider to be "disrespectful changes" and ignore the storylines that are universally agreed upon to be excellent additions to the lore because of the new depth they provide to things like the clone troopers, Maul, and the Force.
-Movies drive merchandise, not saying there needs to be a new movie every year, but some sense of direction for the material. Star Wars was dying in the early 90's, it wasn't for The Thrawn Trilogy renewing people's interest in the franchise, its very likely that other material that came out after and before the special edition release would not have been made. The prequels then renewed a common interest in Star Wars, and after they were done, the fall off of general interest in Star Wars was even quicker, if anything, before disney bought out Lucas, TCW kept Star Wars relevant.
-It suck that you're getting negative karma for speaking your mind. I don't really see your POV, but I can respect it. As someone who writes argumentative almost everyday, here's what I think. You need to make your arguments stronger, "filler" all by itself doesn't describe anything and it sounds petty, and just listing off things you didn't like with no details also doesn't help strengthen your opinion. I don't think you're getting hate because of you're opinion, but because you don't make a strong enough argument for it and as a result you come off as childish.

...which didn’t treat the audience like children, instead using a sophisticated array of cinematic technique to convey complex themes without being blatant.
I don't understand your angle here at all.
The show originally came out on Cartoon Network, and no matter what examples one can put forth, the primary and dominant market of that network is young kids and teenagers. It has to be slightly simplified for that market, easy stories and plenty of explosions. Even still though, I 'm not expecting every major star wars story to have the same complexity and depth of a Timothy Zahn novel. TCW hit that perfect in-between in it's later seasons. It was a show that both kids and adults could enjoy. Kids see the clones and the lightsabers and enjoy the action and jokes. Adults watching can understand the bigger picture of the narratives, and big time Star Wars fans can enjoy the fan service the show provided. In that way it was a success.
Lucasfilm lost money during the shows production because it had nothing going on to sustain itself at the time, no movies, no books, no majorly successful video games (which in of itself is a bigger story), the only toys being pushed out were lego based, and generally, there was very little interest in Star Wars as a result.

Not for 2.2, but planet texture updates will definitely be a thing for FotR and 2.3
Cool,
For me, at least, the planet skins are the most dated part of the mod, even more than the Dreadnaught skin. Its jarring to see like, 14 planets share the same look in the GC map.

I don't know if this has been asked or addressed before, but I was looking through Farseer's work on custom planet models for the next release of ROTM, and I was wondering if there was any plans to do something similar for ICW and FOTR.

Ya, like many have pointed out, the Vong simply don't work with most basic strategic game mechanics. Especially FoC's engine tbh.
Yes, the Vong don't translate well into FOC, they'd be too overpowered if translated over with canon in mind. Also, other than some funky looking units, they wouldn't stand out that much from everyone else due to the limitations of the games mechanics, which would be the primary reason to have them in the first place, to have something totally different.
