"But as Imperial policies became increasingly human-centric and hostile toward alien species, Amedda slowly withdrew from public politics. From a secret Imperial Citadel on the planet Byss, in the very heart of the galaxy, Amedda diligently outlined preparations necessary for his New Order for the next thousand years, the next 10,000 years… and beyond."

I wish the Empire was more like the Space Marines in 40k where they are Nazis, but are a required evil in a world like the 40k world.

Wasn't that how Zahn tried to portray Era 5 Empire, with planets considering re-joining for the centralization and protection?

I am a big fan of Allegiances backed by IPVs (like four each). I also love their gladiator garrison, so i can suicide them to spam skiprays.

I like that the FoW disappears, because it really makes no sense in empty space. I guess the only real downside to having it disappear is the ability to have ships drop in behind space stations, bypassing the fixed defenses.

So he presumably served the clone-emperor and then got blown up? It does mention that when the emproer was alive he was sent around for artifacts, but going to byss is his last mention.

I like what t78 and sidnair suggested, with fighters acting like a tracking bombing run for a single unit (incapable of targeting buildings). This ability could be allowed by having a fighter in orbit or building a "hanger" structure.

On one hand I think the idea is cool, on the other hand, sensor ping makes bombing runs and orbital bombardments completely op.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: Ship capture
« on: June 06, 2017, 02:08:08 PM »
The issue with that, especially with the implementation of the single-unit retreat is that it would only really benefit the player. Giving up a battle, a player could retreat any ship capable of retreating and then just have any ship that couldn't escape fight to the death, denying their capture. The ai is far less likely to know to do this. The only way a surrender mechanic would work was if it was independent of the player's actions.

This is pretty cool, but i have some questions.

1. Is the ability tied to the engine hardpoint?
2. Is it blocked by the gravity well generator?
3. Carrier spam?

My mistake, I misread his reply as planning to increase the points cost of Tie Defenders, and then basically repeated what he posted.

The top-tier fighter/bomber spam is going to be nerfed for all the factions where it's currently a problem (TIE Defenders, Furions). Probably through pop cap cost
Considering how expensive and rare they are supposed to be (Wookiepedia says none were produced after Endor, and that  "It was an indication of the rarity of the TIE Defender that the three full squadrons of the fighters located at the base were more than Rogue Squadron's commander, General Wedge Antilles, thought had ever been built.") maybe it would make more sense to raise their price and put in a build cap (either over all or at a single time).
