Imperial Civil War Tech Support / Looking for XMLs for these items
« on: June 14, 2019, 07:48:15 PM »
It's probably right in front of these poor old eyes...but...I cannot find the files containing the following items:

Golans

Trade Station

Validusia Battlestation (not skirmish, unless they are the same)

Any and all guidance is very much appreciated!

Mwonch

It's been a while since I've played this. I tend to mod the mods, and my first time doing it years ago resulted in some good folks helping me. This mod was heavily updated since I last played, so I had to go through the files to do it again. Not a problem thanks to y'all!

However...

There are a few new ships...and some older ones which seem to be missing. I would like to attack their stats.

This is what I need:

Immobilizer
Praetor (I really, REALLY miss this one)
Allegiance

If I need to delve into the base game MEG file, I can do that. I only need to know in what files I can find the above ships.

Thanks in advance!

Michael

PS - for some odd reason, the Forum pages aren't properly rendering the background art. All I see is a basic, old school forum page (black and white text with blue links). The rest of the site is fine. Is this a problem on my end?

Imperial Civil War Tech Support / Re: Where are the multiplayer saves?
« on: December 16, 2017, 05:10:17 AM »
Should I be posting this in another thread, then? Seems like a bug. We can save a game, but cannot reload it. Not saved in the right place, apparently.

BTW, this is a great mod for multiplayer. That feature needs some love...

Imperial Civil War Tech Support / Where are the multiplayer saves?
« on: December 09, 2017, 04:13:25 PM »
I can save the game. I can see the previous saves when overwriting the saves. But, in multiplayer, I cannot see the saves in order to load them later. Why is that? is there a solution?

Imperial Civil War Tech Support / Multiplayer problems?
« on: November 25, 2017, 08:12:53 PM »
I don't know why, but my previous problems with running the mod after the last major update went away as mysteriously as they appeared. I can now play this! Awesome.

However, I have noted another problem. I'm not sure if it's with the mod or if it's a base game thing, but multiplayer always desyncs. Every game. Both LAN and Internet give these problems. The other player is in the same room, so we share the same connection/modem. Neither of us uses wifi for this. We never had problems before the most recent patch.

Also, the game allows for saves via your mod, but on;y the single player saves can be reused. The multiplayer saves are just...not there.

Does anyone know of a solution to either of these problems?

Thanks!

M

Manually changed all exe files to run as Admin. No dice. Tried using the names of the various exe files in Launch Options (including the files Steam uses: runme2.exe). No dice. Tried using the Workshop Mod for ICW. No dice. Deleted that. Tried MY zipped file containing the mod that last worked. No dice. Vanilla game does not launch (EaW ot FoC). I even tried your recently posted guides on Steam. No dice.

I guess I can no longer play this game...unless I download a cracked version to try this independent of Steam. Not sure if I want to do that. Steam blows...it really does.

Verifying the files is the first thing I did. Deleting the mod is the second. Reinstalling the game vanilla was third. None worked. Not even for vanilla. Then I found out they had a new patch. Turned off antivirus, added an extra exception to firewall (even though Windows FW is off). Still, with or without the mod, the game simply will no longer launch.

This is maddening. This (with your mod) is one of my favorite games! LOL

I don't think it's your mod. But, to be sure, I am once again uninstalling the game(s), deleting residual folders, and whatnot. Without knowing where to look, however, I cannot delete any relevant registry keys. OY!

But, yes - the same errors occur no matter which exe I use, with and without the added launch options.

12
I tried using the other exe to start. Same thing. Basically, the update broke the game for me. I even reinstalled it. Same problem.

This is why I despise Steam and always have.

13
I verified the files twice. Both times it reported all was well. I have no other mods installed aside from ICW. I have, however, changed a few settings in the mod's files (not base game). I should add that not even the vanilla game is firing up.

My son is experiencing the same problem on another machine and a totally separate connection. He gets the same error message in the same log file as above.

I have had Steam do updates on other games which messed things up kind of like this. Usually an uninstall/reinstall fixes the problems. However, I hesitate to do that since the kid's having the exact same issue. His issue appeared at the same time as mine. I would say possibly incompatibility of the mod with the new update, but you say you can start yours without issue. Now, I'm really confused.

I guess I'll have to reinstall it. In the meantime, if there are any other suggestions, I am more than willing to try them.

Imperial Civil War Tech Support / Suddenly having problems starting the mod

I was able to play late last night, but today the game will not start (Steam version). It generates a crash log. I will post it below:

Apparently, the game will no longer recognize the MODPATH command for FOC. It seems it also does not recognize LANGUAGE=ENGLISH, which is odd. I'm assuming Steam did an update. Is there any way to work around this maddening issue?

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: Ship Groupings?
« on: August 03, 2013, 10:34:53 AM »
Sadly true and something hard coded into the game...

That's kind of a bummer, 'cause I really need those Interdictors and do not like having to build a bunch just to keep one working to trap the enemy. I guess I'll add that to the list of things to tolerate ("Freeze problems", I'm looking at YOU).

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Ship Groupings?
« on: August 01, 2013, 06:01:51 PM »
Whenever I'm attacked, my ships are automatically arranged to defend. The really sad thing is if I have a bunch of Interdictors, at least a few will be up front and be almost immediately killed. Is there any way to change how my defenders are arranged for battle (as in, stronger ships up front)?

How do I add the Death Star II into this mod, and where do I find the info the elusive giant station?

Empire at War and Forces of Corruption / Map Editors?
« on: August 01, 2013, 10:27:36 AM »
I few weeks ago, I downloaded what was billed as the official Map Editor for FOC. Sadly, I can't figure it out. Proper documentation seems to be missing, as well. The stupid program also throws several exceptions saying certain XML files are throwing parse errors. I checked these files and...there is nothing wrong with them.

Conclusion: The Petroglyph Map Editor bites!

Is there another editor out there that's better and a little easier to use?

I also have a second question.

How does one add build slots? For example, if Bilbringi has only two, how can I change that to 3, 4 or even 8?

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: List of ALL planets (et al)
« on: July 19, 2013, 09:50:45 PM »
I'm not sure what you mean. If you're looking for a list of every planet that's ever been added by a mod, you're never going to find that because there's been hundreds of mods of varying scales. There's also a lot of different positioning paradigms and universes covered.
[/quote]

Thank you for the map image. Not sure why I couldn't find it.

What I meant was between FOC and TR (and EaW, if they used systems FOC didn't).

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / List of ALL planets (et al)
« on: July 19, 2013, 04:20:54 PM »
I have really had some big fun modding this...um...mod, especially when I realized I could build map files that had as many planets I could find in TR's GC files. Love that!

However...

My son and I played multi with the original vanilla games, and I realized TR does not have all systems listed (even across all of it's maps). For example, Sullust and Graveyard (plus others).

What I'm looking for are two things:

1.) A snapshot (or snapshots) of the galaxy with all of this game's planets, and

2.) A comprehensive list of all systems in these games (not just Thrawn's Revenge).

If anyone can help with either or both of these, I would be most grateful.

Mike
