Star Wars Discussion / SW VII set photos
« on: June 03, 2014, 02:31:06 PM »
So I'm sure you've all already seen the leaked set photos from Abu Dhabi.  Obviously everyone is working under the assumption that we're once again returning to Tatooine for at least part of the movie.  I don't know about you, but after seeing it in 5/6 movies already (correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it was in ESB) I'd actually quite like to visit some other planets! :(

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / ICW 2.1 Manual: Ideas and Requests
« on: February 10, 2013, 05:45:00 PM »
Ok, so I've now started looking at what needs fixing/changing/adding for the 2.1 version of the ICW Manual (Note: This does not mean 2.1 is coming anytime soon).

Obviously, there have been some things mentioned in this thread that I need to correct (or Corey needs to correct in the mod), but beyond that I would like to know what else you, the fans, would like to see added into the manual.  I know someone asked for unit armour/shield values, and that is certainly something I will look into (I'm not guaranteeing that it will make it in, mind you) along with a couple of ideas of my own.

If you can't remember what the manual looks like or contains (or never read it the first time around) you can find it in your installed copy of ICW, or view/download it from the links in this thread.  I look forward to hearing your ideas and suggestions!

Star Wars Discussion / New Star Wars Game Announced
« on: June 01, 2012, 05:48:14 AM »
The new game has been announced:

Star Wars 1313 game is 'dark' and 'mature' bounty hunter sim

LucasArts has announced a brand new Star Wars game in which you play a bounty hunter on Coruscant during the original trilogy - with no Jedi, just scum and villainy.

As promised, LucasArts has announced a new Star Wars game franchise, the oddly-titled Star Wars 1313. There are few details ahead of the game's formal unveiling at E3 next week, but it's to be an internally developed game and will see you playing the role of a bounty hunter on Coruscant during the original trilogy time period.
The game is described as a 'third person cinematic action adventure game' that takes part in a 'dark and mature world'. The official website is live but features nothing but a quick teaser intro.
The name comes from Level 1313, a criminal underground below the surface of the capital planet. As far as we can tell this is something invented purely for the game, but a quick scour on the Star Wars fan wiki reveals that CT-1313 is an alias once used by Boba Fett in a young reader novel.
'The game puts players in control of a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy.  Star Wars 1313 emphasizes epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a hero who uses human skills and gadgets, rather than supernatural Force powers, to make his way through this dangerous world,' reads the press release.
Although this will be LucasArts' first internally developed game since 2010's The Force Unleashed II the game will benefit from 'an integrated development approach by bringing together great artists across the Lucasfilm organisation, including LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm Animation Ltd. and Skywalker Sound.'
No formats have been announced and there's no hint of a release date, but we've already booked an appointment to see the game next Wednesday in L.A.

Star Wars Discussion / George Lucas Promises: No More Star Wars
« on: January 18, 2012, 06:06:21 PM »
Link, Link2

In an extensive interview with the New York Times to mark the arrival in US cinemas of second world war drama Red Tails, his long-gestating passion project, Lucas promised to make no new Star Wars films, citing negative reaction from fans of the series to his recent efforts.
Quote
The 67-year-old film-maker refused to apologise for making changes to his original Star Wars films through the addition of computer-generated imagery which many fans of the movies felt jarred with the more naturalistic look of the trilogy.

"On the internet, all those same guys that are complaining I made a change are completely changing the movie. I'm saying: 'Fine. But my movie, with my name on it, that says I did it, needs to be the way I want it.'"

"Why would I make any more," Lucas says, "when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?"

So. Is he really done? Or will there be a couple of last tweaks in the 3D versions of the films being released over the next few years?  Will he do a final Indiana Jones film, and how does this announcement affect the long rumoured Star Wars live action TV series?

This is for Empire at War: Forces of Corruption, not Empire at War.

And the reason the minor factions don't build past level one stations is they don't have them available, and they don't build ground structures for the same reason. It causes strange crash errors if they do get them.
Is that because the game counts them as Pirates? So they would only have the Pirate Asteroid Base (one level), and the Pirate Command Center (which has its own map marker)?

To get around it couldn't you give them a variant of the Pirate Command Center with the properties of the Underworld Headquarters. Eg. Zsinj could have Corporate Headquarters (see X-Wing: Wraith Squadron/Iron Fist/Solo Command) and the Hapans could have Noble Houses.  That would also give them a ground garrison and a boosted income stream.

The Lounge / Odd News

Okay, ive seen these on a couple of other forums, and i quite like the idea.  If you see a news article about something unusual or funny, post it here for others to read/comment.

I'll start us off with a few:

Capsule of cheese 'lost in space'

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/wiltshire/8171619.stm

^ Members of a Somerset-based cheesemakers group hoping to make the first space flight by a piece of Cheddar say they have lost track of it. At 0400 BST a weather balloon was launched 18.6 miles (30km) into the upper atmosphere, carrying a capsule containing a 300g wedge of Cheddar. But the organisers' GPS tracking system has stopped working and now they need help to find the cheese once it lands.

Packet of cigarettes leaves US man $23 quadrillion in debt

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8152278.stm

^ A man in the United States popped out to his local [gas] station to buy a pack of cigarettes - only to find his card charged $23,148,855,308,184,500. That is $23 quadrillion - many times the US national debt. "I thought somebody had bought Europe with my credit card," said Josh Muszynski, from New Hampshire.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Preybirds

Disra:
Galactic. Price reduction, Preybird production, build speed bonus.
So the Preybirds are buildable as independent squadrons, rather than just being ship compliments like the TIEs?
