Ascendancy Tech Support / Certain New Republic techs cannot be researched.

The NR tech "Coalition Builders" and its followup tech are not able to be researched because the required tech "Arbitrate Tariff" and its requirement "Democratic Peace Theory" are not available to be researched.

Sins of a Solar Empire / Sins refusing to start (Steam)

For whatever reason, Sins just refuses to start. No matter how I try to start the game (Steam, directly from the exe, Dev exe) it just stays as a background process. I've looked all over the place for a solution and nothing works (deleting the settings file, "the purge", steam://flushconfig). The only thing I haven't tried is deleting the rebellion.bin file in C:\ProgramData\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\License\ but I can't even attempt to do that since that directory does not exist (I can get to ProgramData, but there is no Ironclad Games file there). Do any of you guys have any information that could help me fix this issue?

EDIT: After reverting my driver, Sins now starts properly. This thread can be closed now.

Ascendancy Discussion / Boarding Parties

How exactly does this ability work? I've used it numerous times on all kinds of ships in all kinds of situations and it rarely seems to work. Are there a set of factors the game takes into account to determine weather or not a boarding attempt is successful? If so, I'd like to know what they are so I can more effectively use the ability.

Ever since I learned about Grand Moff Ardus Kaine's death during/before Operation Shadow Hand, I've wondered what the post-Shadow Hand timeline would look like if Kaine did not die at Palanhi. Any thoughts?

Ascendancy Discussion / Advice for Pentastar Alignment players?

I've played Ascendancy a few times now but I'm still fairly clueless on things like which frigates are the most useful or which things I should research first. Basically what I'm looking for is a good, long term strategy as the Pentastar Alignment. Can anybody here help with that?

Welcome to the Boards / Hello there!

I've been silently watching these forums for the past month or so and I've decided that I should finally throw my hat into the ring on some of these discussions. It'll be great to talk with some of you guys about tactics and other things. See you on the bridge (that seems to be a typical saying around here).

EDIT: How does one use one of the faction symbols as a avatar?
