I have noticed that especially in the larger Galactic Conquests the pathfinding for fleets is nearly as bad as capital ship pathfinding in space battle mode.  Is there any underlying logic to the roundabout fleet paths that are taken (going from Coruscant to Levian Two, with nothing but my fully controlled worlds along the direct route my fleet just went THROUGH MON CALAMARI), so that I can better plan my routing?  Or, do I just have to tell every fleet or troop movement to literally go planet-by-planet to avoid this degree of stupidity?  I'm losing at least 3 weeks of my NR early-game rush of IR worlds in Final Imperial Push to this idiocy, so it has finally annoyed me to the point where I'm asking for any help or insight that might be available in this community. 

I've noticed some patterns, like fleets tending to follow previous paths of conquest through sectors where I've added worlds to my faction, which is annoying but at least makes some sense.  Ignoring sane paths through friendly worlds that have been friendly for the entire scenario just baffles me, and makes me think that there is some other ruleset involved that this community might have insight into.

Another newbie question here, but why does the Fog of War never lift in the Kuat system?  Playing as the NR on Easy (first time playing), and I've noticed that the sight lines never expand while attacking or defending the Kuat system.  I haven't noticed anything in the description of the system or the manual to explain this, so what am I missing?  If there's a reference somewhere that explains this, please point me in that direction so that I might find other answers to similar questions in the future.  I do prefer to be able to fish, as opposed to pestering you fine folks to hand me fish repeatedly.  :)

So, I just started playing my first ever game in Empire at War, using this Mod - doing The Stars Align as the NR.  The XPGamers' YouTube series got me interested in this (although I spent a huge amount of time screaming "PAUSE AND ISSUE ORDERS YOU FOOL!" at the screen), so I couldn't say no to the $20 Gold Pack on Steam. 

I've played both the vanilla Empire at War tutorials (skipped skirmish, as I don't care) and the Tutorial with the mod.  However, since I've never *really* played Empire at War to begin with, and the PDF file I found of that old manual isn't searchable, I think I'm a bit behind the power curve with some basic game mechanics questions.  I've read the manual for the Imperial Civil War mod cover-to-cover, I've read most of the EU novels and comics in the time period covered, and I've read all the obvious NR-related strategy threads on this forum before I ever registered.  So, my questions all stem from either missing a source of info somewhere, basic inexperience, or severe reading comprehension problems on my part. 

Now, for my actual area of ignorance/quesiton - Upgrades. For the space stations, if I pay the shield upgrade for fighters, does this upgrade ONLY benefit the fighters garrisoned with the actual structure, or do all of my fighters in the space battle benefit from this?
