Ascendancy Discussion / Fighter assistance
« on: February 22, 2016, 04:54:14 PM »
So really liking the ability for the PA to focus on the fleet and on fighters. Coupled with some noice later Capital ships in terms of versatility I am enjoying them and the concept. HOWEVER.

I really seem to be getting minimal returns from my fighters. Clearly I need some advice :).

Currently my distribution is an early rush to Tie Interceptors and Skipray Blastboats (given the number of fighters available to all PA ships as well as large hanger reserves this seems reasonable?).

Current fleet distribution is 66% Tie Interceptors to 33% Skipray's

In combat I rapidly have my fleet target and knock off the enemy AA frigates, they simple do such a HUGE amount of damage that it seems pointless to field fighters without negating them first. Perhaps that is just my perception however? My bombers will have remained in my hangers. Interceptors will have been micro'd away from enemy AA frigates but picked on enemy squadrons as much as possible. Then they will assist where possible.

Afterward AA frigates are down I launch my skiprays.

It is here I seem to struggle. I now have fighter superiority and clear skies from AA frigates. However the effect my bomber squadrons are having is fairly minimal.

What am I doing wrong guys? Or are fighters in the mod just not worth it to this level. Seems likely it is me and not the mod as you guys are fairly consistent with Star Wars lore and obviously fighters were a serious serious threat to the capital ships in Star Wars when utilised correctly.

The Lounge / Star Wars: Rebellion
« on: November 02, 2015, 04:57:24 AM »
Hey guys,

Just a shout out. Anyone playing Star Wars: Rebellion (Supremacy if in UK) now that it is out on GoG? I've picked it up and while fun I can't get Rebellion reloaded to work (lack of disk!) and the AI is........ basic. However it was always fun against humans and I am wondering if anyone is around who fancies trying to make a few games work?

Ascendancy Discussion / Shields on Fighters
« on: October 08, 2015, 09:33:20 AM »
So I have a question.

It appears like X-wings, Y-wings, A-wings, B-wings and Tie Defenders do not have their shields? Is this a game engine limitation in terms of giving star fighters shields? Just curious because the higher number of squadrons mixed with the larger hangers currently rip through my New Republic fighters (or if I play IR my fighters rip through NR fleets). Seems a bit off as the Alliance/NR was always famous for its fighter supremacy??

Shields might help even that balance.

EDIT:

On a separate note the Fighter escort ships tear through fighters. Atm it seems like there is literally no point even worrying about fighters. Dock bombers in your combat ships that have hangers. Then add loads of escorts (Corellian Corvettes for example) due to their low supply cost. Tear down the enemy fighters. Launch bombers. WIN.

Welcome to the Boards / Greetings
« on: March 01, 2015, 07:32:15 AM »
Hello all.

I'm Brutoni. A huge sci-fi fan. While the original SOASE is a fantastic game it never really captured my imagination the way some of my earlier space games I played had. Armada II and Star Wars Supremacy (US posters will know it as Rebellion). Supremacy definitely had its issues however as a young teenager I got many hours enjoyment out of the game despite the horrific UI and AI. Besides being a sci-fi fan (I wish they would do a good battlestar galactica game!) I am an avid martial artist having competed in national competitions and practiced multiple styles of the sport. Be that Aikido, Bo-Jitsu or Karate. I've dabbled a little in boxing as well.

For a living I am a Royal Naval Weapons Engineering Officer (Submariner). So if I suddenly disapear from the boards for prolonged periods please do not be alarmed, comes with the trade.

That said I have enjoyed playing 0.90 already. It is quickly replacing SOASE as my basic way to play the game and certainly something I can enjoy on my many long train journeys or while on deployment with no access to the internet! While I am still trying to learn the mod and the differences in technology and game play I eagerly await the Empire of the Hand. I look forward to playing a civilisation based on fast movement, feint and strike tactics as well as covert intelligence (not at all because it sounds like submarines in space )
