Imperial Civil War Tech Support / Looking for XMLs for these items
« on: June 14, 2019, 07:48:15 PM »
It's probably right in front of these poor old eyes...but...I cannot find the files containing the following items:

Golans

Trade Station

Validusia Battlestation (not skirmish, unless they are the same)

Any and all guidance is very much appreciated!

It's been a while since I've played this. I tend to mod the mods, and my first time doing it years ago resulted in some good folks helping me. This mod was heavily updated since I last played, so I had to go through the files to do it again. Not a problem thanks to y'all!

However...

There are a few new ships...and some older ones which seem to be missing. I would like to attack their stats.

This is what I need:

Immobilizer
Praetor (I really, REALLY miss this one)
Allegiance

If I need to delve into the base game MEG file, I can do that. I only need to know in what files I can find the above ships.

Thanks in advance!

Michael

PS - for some odd reason, the Forum pages aren't properly rendering the background art. All I see is a basic, old school forum page (black and white text with blue links). The rest of the site is fine. Is this a problem on my end?

Imperial Civil War Tech Support / Where are the multiplayer saves?
« on: December 09, 2017, 04:13:25 PM »
I can save the game. I can see the previous saves when overwriting the saves. But, in multiplayer, I cannot see the saves in order to load them later. Why is that? is there a solution?

Imperial Civil War Tech Support / Multiplayer problems?
« on: November 25, 2017, 08:12:53 PM »
I don't know why, but my previous problems with running the mod after the last major update went away as mysteriously as they appeared. I can now play this! Awesome.

However, I have noted another problem. I'm not sure if it's with the mod or if it's a base game thing, but multiplayer always desyncs. Every game. Both LAN and Internet give these problems. The other player is in the same room, so we share the same connection/modem. Neither of us uses wifi for this. We never had problems before the most recent patch.

Also, the game allows for saves via your mod, but on;y the single player saves can be reused. The multiplayer saves are just...not there.

Does anyone know of a solution to either of these problems?

Thanks!

Imperial Civil War Tech Support / Suddenly having problems starting the mod

I was able to play late last night, but today the game will not start (Steam version). It generates a crash log. I will post it below:

Apparently, the game will no longer recognize the MODPATH command for FOC. It seems it also does not recognize LANGUAGE=ENGLISH, which is odd. I'm assuming Steam did an update. Is there any way to work around this maddening issue?

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Ship Groupings?
« on: August 01, 2013, 06:01:51 PM »
Whenever I'm attacked, my ships are automatically arranged to defend. The really sad thing is if I have a bunch of Interdictors, at least a few will be up front and be almost immediately killed. Is there any way to change how my defenders are arranged for battle (as in, stronger ships up front)?

How do I add the Death Star II into this mod, and where do I find the info the elusive giant station?

Empire at War and Forces of Corruption / Map Editors?
« on: August 01, 2013, 10:27:36 AM »
I few weeks ago, I downloaded what was billed as the official Map Editor for FOC. Sadly, I can't figure it out. Proper documentation seems to be missing, as well. The stupid program also throws several exceptions saying certain XML files are throwing parse errors. I checked these files and...there is nothing wrong with them.

Conclusion: The Petroglyph Map Editor bites!

Is there another editor out there that's better and a little easier to use?

I also have a second question.

How does one add build slots? For example, if Bilbringi has only two, how can I change that to 3, 4 or even 8?

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / List of ALL planets (et al)
« on: July 19, 2013, 04:20:54 PM »
I have really had some big fun modding this...um...mod, especially when I realized I could build map files that had as many planets I could find in TR's GC files. Love that!

However...

My son and I played multi with the original vanilla games, and I realized TR does not have all systems listed (even across all of it's maps). For example, Sullust and Graveyard (plus others).

What I'm looking for are two things:

1.) A snapshot (or snapshots) of the galaxy with all of this game's planets, and

2.) A comprehensive list of all systems in these games (not just Thrawn's Revenge).

If anyone can help with either or both of these, I would be most grateful.

Mike

Empire at War and Forces of Corruption / Modding Question
« on: July 18, 2013, 11:23:35 AM »
In some XML files, there are tags <TEXT_ID> and another for Description. What, exactly, do these do, and are they really necessary?

Or...are they important to naming a particular campaign file (for example)?

Imperial Civil War Community Mods / Modding of the Mod problem
« on: July 18, 2013, 11:22:12 AM »
I've noticed a recent problem.

I like modding games. This one is no exception. Especially this particular Mod (thanks guys!!). I change files, input them into the proper folders, makes sure ALL the necessary support files are also modded...then things get really fun. I usually have zero problems.

Lately, however (say, just the last few days), I change a file, start the game, and it keeps trying to read the changed file in it;s OLD form. Odd.

For example:

I wanted a new multiplayer map. I changed the original Multi map (saved with a new name), added a bunch of new planets, and it worked! My son and I wanted a Tournament map with 3 planets. He owns one, I own another, and the third is in the middle packed with a seemingly impossible to kill fleet and ground troops. I changed the original multi file (again under a different name) to reflect what we wanted. I added the new map xml file to the Campaigns.xml file. it worked! I then went into the new Tournament map, added the fleets and ground troops...and suddenly it wasn't reading the new info. The game kept trying to read the file as if I had no made those fleet and troop changes. No matter what I did, it would not read the new info. I change it back and NOW - - - - - it won't even read the file.

I have noticed this with other XML file changes now. Does anyone know what might be going on?

Imperial Civil War Tech Support / Changing custom GC maps?
« on: July 12, 2013, 03:06:18 PM »
Is there a way to turn a single-player Galactic Conquest map into multiplayer? Specifically, say - FTGU. My son would LOVE to try kicking my tail with that one...but the game doesn't let us. So, we'd like to mod the map, if possible.

Any guidance will be awesome. Thank you in advance!

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / The Praetor II?
« on: July 05, 2013, 06:18:14 PM »
I'm trying to adjust a few stats for the good ol' awesome Praetor II...and yet...I can only find a very small snippet in the Remnant_Space_Units XML file. There is nowhere near the info as with other units of its kind.

Does anyone know where I can find the info to edit for the Praetor II? Specifically, I want to change the build time.

In which file will I find info for the Eclipse, and is there a way to make it buildable?

Thanks

...I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know in which folder I can find this seemingly elusive map for From the Ground Up?
