I disagree. The Zero Fighter was was very manoeuvrable, and the Nakajima Ki-84 competed with his American counterparts.

I guess I misspoke here. It was a maneuverable aircraft, but their lack of good tactics and experienced pilots is what really did them in.

Japan is an isle, with few minerals and a lot less population than the United States. Pearl Harbor was for them the beginning of the end. Their eyes were bigger than the belly, like the Nazis with the USSR.

This was their big problem. An island like that could not have hoped to keep up with the United States industrial might once the war started. Their technology also didn't advance much during the war either. For instance, their planes were pretty much outdated by 1944-45, and the United States was blasting them out of the sky. The Japanese also couldn't replace their losses, and it got to the point where they thought kamikaze attacks on American ships would be more effective than trying to engage them by conventional means (torpedoes, dive bombers, etc.) Nearly every factor (Industry, resources, replacing losses, technology, etc.) was working against Japan against the United States in the Pacific War. As others in the thread have said, unless the U.S. gave up the Pacific War if the Japanese had won at Midway, they were going to lose regardless of what happened.

News & Updates / Re: [ICW 2.2] Era Progression Overhaul
« on: February 12, 2018, 05:55:41 PM »
Very few people will ever even get to the point where the timed events even effect them. For some perspective, you are spending 100-200 weeks in each era with it. You wouldn't even be out of era 3 by time time I finished my PA playthrough.

More importantly, the option to perpetually stay in a given era was never a thing except for the Remnant, so why should the one faction that benefits from it most have all the power over when the game advances? If you're playing the Remnant and you're in a progressive era GC, there should be at least *some* impetus to take advantage of your power spikes while you can. We will likely eventually put in events that can be done to stop the timed events, but it will come at a cost to the Remnant.

That's what I was hoping for. The player shouldn't be able to stay in an era at zero cost to themselves. I probably won't end up staying in the same era perpetually if I play as the Remnant, but I'm guessing there'd be some players that would like to.

I too have enjoyed watching these videos; I just watched this one the other day coincidentally enough. I agree with this video. The United States still would have won in the end. They had so many advantages over Japan in terms of manpower, industry, technology, etc, that it would have always been a matter of time until the United States won, especially with Japan so spread out over the Pacific. With this, I don't think Japan would have been able to win the war.

This looks like a very good change. I look forward to seeing it in action. I think it is well thought out, and gives the players some options on what they would like to do. The only suggestion I'd have would be to allow players to keep their current era if they choose, as others have suggested. I'm glad you're considering doing this for 2.3. But, this is definitely a great start!

I definitely enjoyed the trailer; I'm glad we finally got to see something on the movie!  :) Han is my favorite character from Star Wars, so I am definitely looking forward to seeing Solo. I'm also pretty happy they kept him as an Imperial dropout.

Just using the stats when it suits your case. There’s been reports of review bombing attempts for the Last Jedi because it had asian, black, and female protagonists. So the reviews on RT are not completely credibile for that reason, and also because people likely to review a movie are ones more concerned with quality to begin with, while many average movie goers, even if they hate a movie, simply don’t.

For example, I’ve spent hours extolling my hatred for TFA, dedciated a few days worth of my life to it. And never have I once gave it a bad review on any offical site. So yeah, the stats aren’t always reliable.

Secondly, and the real reason that your post irks me so nuch, is the complete and utter fact that it’s cherry picking stats. TFA has after the year since it’s release an 88% approval rating by audience, and somehow a 93% by critics. And that movie was terrible. Great for Mr. Peutro who has a compelling arguement for liking the movie, but overall terrible. So can you really trust the stats when you consider all that?
Can i point out that reports are reports. Your complain Xizer is using something that stats that are not "completely accurate" and then you use something that is not completely true. As someone who knows how rotten tomatoes works they have a system in place to both detect bots, and troll posts. So no, you are incorrect, but i will see at least maybe 1-5% of the reviews could be trolls. However that is not enough to lower the films audience score that low, so yes acutal people that are not s posted legit reviews that gave it a low score.

As for TFA this is a simple reason. If was given the benefit of the doubt, people say okay that's cool and they get a chance and most like it(I did not because the more i watched it the more it bother me, compare to TLJ which i liked even more every time i see it) So yeah the reviews are 100% accurate but they represent alot of perple

I've read those same reports, but there's no way that score isn't at least somewhat reflective of what the audience thinks. I wasn't the biggest fan of either TFA or TLJ (I did like Rouge One), but I was one of those who did think TLJ could have been waaayyy better than it turned out to be. I feel Disney missed a huge opportunity with TLJ. I think there are fans out there that were hoping for way more from TLJ after TFA left so much unanswered, and their reviews are reflecting that.

Disney had better be careful with the next few Star Wars movies they make. They may be in dangerous territory with some of the fan base. Looking at Rotten Tomatoes, I see that only 49% of audience members liked The Last Jedi. Critics seemed to like the film (91%), but a lot of fans really seemed to not like it. So it does seem to be a little more than the hardcore fans like ourselves who are a bit weary of Disney.

Imperial Civil War Community Mods / Re: Expanded Ship Names

I think this is a great idea! I don't know why, but I always liked seeing the names on the different ships when you scroll over them. Thanks!

I'd like to be considered for a testing spot as well. I haven't logged into the forums, but I've been reading all of the updates (and come to the site about every other day, I just don't feel the need to log in), and have been watching Corey's play through videos on his YouTube channel as well. It's been awhile since I've tested, but I'd be more than capable of providing feedback on the mod. One of the reasons I still have FOC is because of Thrawn's Revenge, and I would love to contribute to a quality mod at some point in the process.

Discussion, Suggestions & Feedback / Re: Suggestions for 2.1

I like the Rogue Squadron Mission idea and it sounds promising. In fact i wouldn't mind a Bacta War kind of GC.

I would really like the Razors Kiss Mission for Zsinj as well as bringing the Wraiths commando missions into play to add a more commando/hunt feel to the GC.

For the PA I'd suggest the founding mission of the PA talks where you have to travel through the New Territories as Kaine to collect the 5 members of the PA for the units or heroes. Possibly save Grand Admiral Grant from assassination to get him.

I like this idea too. I think a Bacta War GC would be pretty fun to play through.
The Razors' Kiss mission also sounds very fun, I think it would be really cool, but I imagine it would take a bit to implement it in the game.

if I remember right Palleon learned a lot of things from Grand Admiral Thrawn.  but palleon would never be a 2nd Thrawn. I would agree with Arb thrawn would probably be saying what was the captain?
