Or because you believe your cause is more worthy than their cause, but who's to decide who's right?

Yeah that's what I meant.  Do the versions of your save and the mod match up?  Probably can't use a 2.15 save in 2.2 demo and vice versa.

Did you make sure to load the mod before loading the save?  I tried loading the save without being in the mod first and that went horribly.

Yes, you're completely right in that World War II destroyed infrastructure way more than WW1, I was mostly thinking about the war reparations and forced disarmament that caused bad feelings between the countries.  I agree with you on your last point as well, if there was no reason for the Germans to be angry I don't think the war would have happened (at least not in the 40s)

Oh I see personally I liked the split units because i made a unit more versatile like i could send a single soldier to capture while the rest fought on the front line

Same, it gave an opportunity to micro units back who were taking fire and keep the healthy ones in the front.  But most of the time i just autoresolved with a huge force and didn't worry about my poor men on the ground :|

It was not so much a comparison of the wars as the effects of it.  Whereas both wars devastated the loser, WW1 left the conquered in a horrible state which only set the stage for a second war.  After WW2 the victor nations spent more time and attention to make sure they reconstructed Japan and Germany well, and to make sure there was not a third world war

Agreed it kind of gives you that overpowering feeling turning them into the little guys who, in Universe Perspective they don't have a snowflakes chance

But then it's so sad because you're just crushing small people who are fighting for what they believe in.

Interesting point of view.

I propose another: the Japanese won the war. They turned their defeat, after two atomic bombs, into a fruitful partnership with the United States. In this region, those who have really lost are the Koreans, subjected to the same partition as Germany... While they were the invadeds and not the invaders.

Interesting thought, and definitely a different outcome than Germany post WW1 - but one might also argue that because the Americans had so much influence on them after the war (occupation, etc) that they didn't develop perhaps as they wanted to because they didn't really have a choice, even if the end result is still good.

Well they never wanted to completely "beat" the US - the plan was to get as much territory and then the US would sue for peace/not attack back.  But since when has a large slap in the face ever gone unreturned?

Yeah that does make sense, I guess the other factions still have very little power over what they can go to advance (esp NR in era 1) except for waiting it out.   I'm hoping for the best, and thank you for the explanation!

That does make sense, but depending on which leader you want 60 or 100 weeks is a long time.  In the video he made, Corey did say that it was mostly for other factions if you can't find the leader or he won't die.

I'm. . . hesitant on this.  I liked the system that was shown earlier, the ability to basically pick one leader and play them for an entire GC, unless you messed up and got them killed.  While I appreciate the added depth here, being forced to lose a leader after a certain amount of time doesn't really sit well with me.  I kinda like to get to one of my favorite leaders, and then try and play them for the whole campaign.

I'd imagine there are multiple single era campaigns that will let you play with your leader; there are several era 3 and 4 campaigns already in 2.15 and I don't see them going away

True, it would give an impression of a ragtag force, but compared to how much it adds it's probably not worth it.  It might be easy if the fighters were already modeled, but to add new ones..

Star Wars Discussion / Re: First Order's Origins?
« on: February 15, 2018, 05:14:11 PM »
Well there's books about the topic already (Empire's end, etc) but I doubt we'll see a mainline movie about the era.  Maybe an anthology piece like Rogue one?

Yeah you can't really deny that there's just a major hole where some plot should be, but on the other hand it's probably so they could recast the old actors as themselves.  Don't forget that TFA was marketed as the return of Star Wars, and a large part was the returning cast.

On one hand, I want to see movies or content that takes place in between, but it sounds like nothing really happened after Jakku, or nothing that could be movie worthy.

I wouldn't see it being super viable as they'd never have the strength to take over the entire galaxy (usually the main idea for the mod), and making the goal to only do a small part wouldn't be that fun I think

agreed a few gladiators manageable, a lot of them, it can get out of hand if you don't know what your doing

I guess it also depends if they're attacking or defending.  If you're defending you can just arrange your ships in a tight cluster and let them run into you because they don't have too much firepower.

If you have to attack, it can get a bit messy if your ships end up facing the wrong way

Yes! That's also why I love this mod so much, it brings back a great feeling of space combat and Star Wars strategy, and also the only game I've found that really gives the great 'coming out of hyperspace' experience.

If only we could get rid of the pesky land battles  :P
