Title: Newgamemodders question thread
Post by: Newgamemodder on June 05, 2017, 10:38:51 AM
Hi forums!

I have some general questions regarding coding in EAW FOC.

Ill post all my questions on this thread instead of cluttering up the forum with several new topics.

Ok so im wondering if its possible to add a new type of environment to FOC. i know theres urban, forest, temperate, etc.

Is it possible to add a new one called "darkworld"?

Thanks!

Environments are hard coded. You can't create new ones.

If you want to code a map where the map occurs at night, you need to go into the map editor to create an environment by clicking on the nature tab then for the current environment change the intensity in the sun settings and then go to sky domes and find a sky dome that matches evening modes

thanks guys,

Demcalves, thank you!, but i was mostly looking for the coding aspect because i wanted to to have special infantry on night worlds.

Also i had sorta of a brainfart today. which .xml includes the buildings again?, is it groundstructures.xml or specialstructures.xml?

Specialstructures and Specialstructures_Underworld are the buildable faction buildings (barracks, factories, etc).

You guys have been very helpful, thanks!

Now i recently completely overhauled my eaw galactic map locations and size and such. I want to add the original campaign. Now my question is,

do i just change the traderoutes in the campaign files?, or do i not need to edit them since i'll only change the locations of the planets?
