Title: New Canon Imperial Star Destroyer Mark One....
Post by: HobbesHurlbut on April 16, 2017, 06:58:38 PM
So we have this for her armament in the new canon;
60 Heavy Turbolaser batteries
6 dual heavy turbolasers
2 quad heavy turbo laser
3 triple medium turbolaser turrets
2 Dual medium turbolasers
2 point defense cannons
60 ion cannon
2 dual heavy ion cannons

If you noticed it, there's 13 more turbolaser cannons (the medium turbolaser ones) and the 60 turbolaser batteries are heavy. (Compared to our TR's ISD I 's 60 'normal' turbolaser batteries). And 4 'heavy' ion cannons.
That's a 25-30% increase in firepower.

So....what does that mean for the Imperial Star Destroyer Duece? Why was she built in the first place? ISD II is in the new canon too, but her loadout hasn't been specified canonically.

Well in the new canon the ISD I stopped being produced after the ISD II came out so I'd assume it's a direct upgrade from the ISD I.

Well the ISD II has octuplet turbolasers so they probably do have a significant increase in firepower, reactor power, armor, things like that

We don't know exactly how much improvement Duece has over the I in new canon, that's the thing :-/

In Rebels and the Battlefront 2 trailer you can see the Octuplet turrets, the other stuff is just speculation

Okay, I just learned more about the sources the entry used.  If anyone has Rogue One Ultimate Visual Guide, that would be great.

What I learned is that the Rogue One Ultimate Visual Guide referred to the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer Devastator and that she was the last of her class before the yards switched to the newer Imperial II-class.  She received a lot of modifications. So these particular armaments can be taken with a grain of salt and possibly meant to be competitive with the Duece;
Dual heavy Turbolaser turrets, Dual heavy ion cannon turrets, Quad heavy turbolasers, Triple medium turbolasers, and Medium turbolasers.
As well for the 60 turbolaser batteries; whenever they're heavy because they're on Devastator or they're typical for Imperial I.

Once again, would like someone to chime in with Rogue One Ultimate Visual Guide info.

Very interesting indeed, hopefully someone does have the Visual guide to clarify. It would also make sense, since Scraif only housed a major database, it was already well manned by the wings of ties and two ISDIs. Sure it housed plans for major weapon systems but they probably have multiple banks (seeing how a DSII was created). They probably weren't expecting an attack from almost the entire Rebel Fleet.
