Interrupting our regularly scheduled Imperial-fest for some more New Republic love. This time, the A-Wing, which serves as an interceptor and is a hardcounter to the Executor class. Also, we've got a fancy new render setup.
Model: Wildcat (660 polies)
Skin: Codeuser

Very nice. So will you be able to ram these into SSDs with a small (1%) chance of taking it out once the SSDs shields drop?
-
If A wing can ram i want SSDs to be able to as well. WBD!!!

Well, if we want to stay true to canon, the entire NR tech tree should be built around plot bunnies. Fighters should have abilities that make imperial capital ships spontaneously explode or ram each other, and force fleets to retreat for no reason like at Endor.

The Executor was not destroyed because of the A-wing impacting the bridge. The Executor was destroyed because it impacted the Death Star II, due to a lack of navigational control, which was caused by the A-wing. So, perhaps a more reasonable ability for an A-wing squadron would be something like this:
[Insert Ability Title]
Causes the A-wing squadron to impact the Executor-class SSD. 100% chance of destroying the fighters, with a 15 percent chance of making the Executor immobile and uncontrollable(Can`t be ordered around) for twenty seconds.
Can only be used once the Executor`s shields are down.
The Executor`s guns would still fire, they just couldn`t be ordered to target something specific, and would continue targeting what they were last ordered to, or would target something random.
The percent chance and amount of time it is uncontrollable might need to be changed, due to balancing. The ability could also be extended for use on other capital or supercapital ships.
Because the New Republic has no Interdictor analog, I think this would be a nice way to implement a method for the NR to stop ships from fleeing into hyperspace(besides the "below 10% health" thing.

It looks a lot better than the TIE fighter. I wonder why.

I don't think NR pilots are the Kamikaze type ...

I don't think Arvel Crynyd got that memo.

No, he must not have. :)

I'm... Confused, scared, and excited on how an A-Wing could counter an SSD... Time to spam the everliving **** out of MC80s and MC90s for those A-Wings.

Well they actually don't, though it would be hilarious if they did. A-wings are still very solid interceptors though.
