Getting a laptop rather than a desktop does mean you'd have to make some sacrifices on performance, but generally in that case you should try to look for something that might be a bit bulkier, cause you save money on not needing as much miniaturization

So I played eaw/foc around 5 years ago, great game loved it. Recently stumbled across this mod on utube ...didn’t even know what a mod was let alone steam.
Anyways, I want to start playing. I’ve researched and read up on mods and a lot of what is going on in here and sadly, im still a little lost on how I’m supposed get started. I would like to get a decent laptop to play on (I would rather a desktop but I have little kids and need to be able to put it out of reach) and even picking one out I’m not sure what sort of requirements in a computer are needed.
So, before I start asking how to use mods and steam, would anyone have a suggestion on what sort of computer I should get? Working on a $500-$600 budget.
Thanks in advance.
