It is called the friendzone.
I would not say Ezra is simply in the friendzone. Sabine from season 1-2 has been very close off with her emotions(with only hints of feelings towards Ezra). I personally think their is more going on because if Ezra died it be more tragic for her then even Kanan. She clear cares as based on a couple episodes.

A truly Friendzoned character is Jorah Mormont AKA Ser Friendzone.

I think they will tease Ezra as a possible force connection to Sabine but the principle of friends will be kept nothing more

I think that Sabine thinks of Ezra as a friend, but Ezra like likes her and wants to take it to a new level.

The show will probably never do this since they have established Hera and Kanan as the lovers of the show.
Not really they were lovers wayyyyyy before that. In the novel Rebel Dawn Kanan is totally just tyring to flirt with her. Its like if Ezra was a drunk lunatic who was a ex-jedi and Sabine was a hotshot rebel pilot who pulls some ballys stunts.

They started out flirting but now mostly have a brother/sister relationship. The joke with the dad was most likely fan service for shippers
that maybe true too some extend, but while the crew is a "family" it doesn't mean Ezra has lost his feelings for her. From some hints by Dave Folini and the voice actress for Sabine, Ezra is getting better at hiding his feelings toward Sabine.

Well from my perspective its like this
Season 1: Ezra clearly had a crush on Sabine(the flirting was really obvious) Sabine didn't really care of him in romantic sense, but there are hints here and there that she likes Ezra (She did get Ezra that picture of his family)

Season 2: As far as I can tell there isn't really any increase in but their is a increase in there friendship. Also she seems to care more about Ezra, based on the episode where the two inquisitors showed up. When they get surprise by them both, Ezra breaks the door to protect Sabine, and she seemed not to keen on letting him die.

Season 3: Is where we see a more major and darker Ezra. Ezra feels responsibility for Kannan going blind, and Kannan(Being one of the examples of a terrible Jedi, but great person) chooses to isolate himself from the Ghost Crew. This prompts for Ezra to turn to the Holocron, and its dark powers. Sabine is shown to generally be concerned and horrified by Ezra behavior. Late on in the season during the Winkathu Job, Sabine nearly loses it when she she's Ezra, and Xeb almost died, but she seem to care for Ezra more. Their is also Ezra trying to help out Sabine in the trials of the Darksaber and she feels bad after she made a comment about how Ezra doesn't understand(This when Ezra mentions she at least had family to go back too). In legacy of Mandlore we see him wanting to help Sabine, but him getting stopped by the Rens.

Season 4: In Heroes of Mandalore part 1-2 we see Ezra make a fool of himself, but we get one of my favorite part of the episode which is this
I just find that funny especially since its Ezra meeting her father for the first time, and we also see Ezra try and help comfort Sabine on the whole Dutchess weapon thing. Also most of the episode descriptions have Sabine and Ezra's names and they are focus on so I guess this is where they at going?

I remember him having a crush on her in the beginning, she put him down very quickly though. There were some slight innuendos here and there, but they mostly reduced it to them being close friends AFAIK.

They sound like friends to me.

So anyone explain this to me, because I quiet honestly cant find a direct Answer.
In season 1 we had some flirting on Ezra's part, and him trying to impress her. We also had her giving Ezra a picture of his family and some things here and there.
In Season 2 there isn't really much to go on.

In Season 3 we have the scene where he tries to comfort her in Trials of the Darksaber, and he repeatedly shows he cares for Sabine a lot(especially during the Antilles Extraction) There was also some minor things that I couldn't remember.

And in Season 4 Heroes of Mandalore Part 1 and 2 some thing interesting is hinted at. When Ezra goes to rescue Sabine's father we get a one of those sequences where a character goes "I with her, not with with her. I am her friend" and also he generally tries to help Sabine deal with what she was going through.

Can someone explain what is the deal with these two?
