As a potential reason for using the ISD I instead of the ISD II, what about adding a few outdated (but still powerful) support ships to it's complement? A squadron or half squadron of skiprays or a Gamma Assault shuttle might make ISD Is a bit more interesting than a strictly worse deuce.

General first: can we see the starships gain a balanced representation of their anti-fighter guns? it would more evenly show the difference between the ISD I and the ISD II. also, it would give you different reasons to get, say, and ISD I over an ISD II, because, if memory serves, ISD Is, while with less firepower, had more armored turrets and anti-fighter guns, compared to ISD II.
ISDs like most Imperial capital ships suffered from a thing called Trench Run Disease caused by not having sufficient anti-fighter guns - and leading to the production of dedicated anti-fighter ships like Lancers.

this would only make problems and conflicts.
It would only mount to anything overall when you fight against it, and since multiplayer does not really want to work, it's not like one could use it, and the AI wouldn't be able to get anything out of this advantage.
The conflict, however comes when anyone who doles not know the lore plays. They would think it's a bug and report it over and over and over and over again.
Like some bugs are now. nobody looks back the thread if someone reported it already, they just make a new thread without reading anything and corey have to answer 1 question a million times. I can immagine how frustrating it can be.
See, I actually thought about changing the minimap pip too from reading the OP/Corey's response (and before getting to Helix' post).  Sure, it's only a cosmetic change but it's also one that does reflect a quite common request for (K)night Hammer.  We could include a reference to such behaviour in the unit tooltip/manual/wiki (so people have no legitimate reason for complaint) and any bug reports about it are likely to be no more or less frequent than the existing requests for special treatment to the unit are now.

would it be possible to meet halfway between the nighthammer being stealth and not being stealth by making it show up smaller on the radar instead? I know this probably wouldn't mean much for the game play, but if its easy to do it makes sense canonically speaking.

All ship hardpoints are already a representation of their actual weaponry. Nothing was left off. If a ship lacks significant anti-fighter weaponry, it's because that ship canonically lacked anti-fighter weaponry.

Venator: can we see the SPHA-T laser ability added? it would make the effectiveness of the Venator greater, and add a little more balance to the imperial forces when facing era 4/5 NR fleets.
Once we get to abilities we may, however SPHA-Ts weren't necessarily even a thing anymore.

Night Hammer: as it's role was to be a stealth SSD, could it be given the stealth attribute? then it won't feel like just a black executor, when it had more abilities.
The Night Hammer did not have a cloak, just stealth armour, which basically was just the fact that it was black and didn't show up on scanners as easily.

Mon Calamari cruisers: so, don't know if this destroys the balance in the game, could we see the Mon Cal cruisers have untargetable shield hardpoints, to simulate the uniqueness of the individual ships, and the fact that the shield generators are never in the same place.
Pretty sure the only ones that even have a shield hardpoint to begin with are Home One and the MC40a.

Eclipse: PLEASE, can we see Palpatine split from the ship? i know why you did it, but it's the hardest ship to kill in the game. instead, put him on like a ISD or something NOT a superlaser SSD. also, this would make it able to simulate the production of it, by forcing you to build it.

We don't currently plan to. If we did, we probably wouldn't make people pay for it, and we wouldn't make Palpatine go on another ship.

so, like always, here are some more suggestions. this time, focusing on Capital ships.

that's it for now, if i have more, i'll add to this
