The DLC does include more planet research groups, which could potentially be useful to some modders, and some other new research modifiers iirc. The planet specialization could be nice, depending on moddable it is and what it actually does.

I'm mostly excited about the "Unlock the Dark History" part, will we FINALLY figure out what's chasing the Vasari?
Ha ha, enjoy waiting for Sins 2!

I look forward to the DLC myself.  Just from a personal state of mind.

I haven't responded because I'm in class, but I saw this yesterday. I can't be sure about the actual functional implications of modding with this kind of DLC until its actually out. Ideally I'd like to make it so the mod is technically for Rebellion but owning the DLC won't hurt. As far as the actual content goes, I'm not impressed or inclined to take advantage of. Steam achievements are irrelevant. New research, planet types, objects, etc are all things that could or have been modded in. The only remotely interesting thing is the planet specialization, but even that seems like something we could have modded in until more info comes out. DLC like this tends to be more like a mod than Expansions, which give more structural changes allowing us to do more stuff.

Tl;dr: looks cool as DLC, shouldn't affect the mod.

Will this affect ascendacy? I mean people will buy the DLC and some will want to play ascendacy.

I've messaged Corey on STEAM and he hasn't replied. So, I doubt he even knows about it, meaning you'll have to wait a bit for a good answer on this. But if you want my opinion about the DLC itself? There's potential for it to actually increase the quality of Ascendancy. Mainly because DLC like this has a habit of doing things we couldn't do before, or allowing us to fake certain features we've deemed impossible before hand.
